Cray XE6 Supercomputer - AMD based!!

Cray seems to have already unveiled the XE6 model of their monster computers, and it's based on the 8 or 12-core AMD Opterons!! :icon_mrgreen:
Impressive is that they managed to create an architecture that can scale to over 1,000,000 cores!

I can only imagine the cost of such a monster... maybe with the purchase of one of these you get a free small nuclear power plant to feed the power to the beast! :icon_lol:

ya, that was just a limited time only promotion and has since expired. maybe next time if you order sooner you'll get your power plant.

hmmm million cores. I think at over 8 million a year in electric costs a guy may want his own power plant. I used my .11.1 cents per kwh to get a rough idea at 100 watts per CPU crunching. This is just a rough guess and is a bit more then i want to give to the power company. Who is getting one of these for the team?
