We seem to be dropping like a rock in this. What is going on? Are there a bunch of teams that started cranking out W/U or something.

looking at the stats we are losing positions daily, checking other teams around us they arnt outproducing us very much so i wouldnt suddenyl expect them to do a few thousand jump above us.
im gonna run this 24/7 for a week ish, hopefully we wont drop many more places lol

Right,

I've taken 1 machine off F@H and stuck it on CP. :) Don't like seeing red on my sea of green.

My main machine at home is still offline (HD problem)

:(,
how long till replacment comes ? ( did you send it back in the end )

the stats are all going well except for that, we should pick up though wiht a few machines being switched over.

I'm still running a util to extract all the files. It says 347 days

I'll try another one tonight.

Once my data is off, I'll format it before sending it back for replacement ( I don't want anyone looking at my files )

My other machines are still crunchinh.

Empty_5oul

doing a format will lose the data but it will still be there and the people you send it to will know how to recover it.

a tool worth trying at some point is Tune Up 2004 Pro, ill send it some time --- it has a feature to search for deleted itmes you may want to retrieve, it is amazing what you can get back that you thought had gone, i still had a few notepad files form 1997 :O

You don't want anyone getting all your nudie icons do you.

After I've recovered any data, I'll write the HD with 0101010 recurring, 'cos I DON'T want anybody reading my data after I send it back under warranty.

Or taking a copy of my avatars

Geeze, how long does it take to complete a ClimatePrediction work unit?

Ototero
10-27-2004, 07:04 PM
Mine looks like about 6000 hours

But that is on In**l 399Mhz

here on my XP 3200+ it estimates at 668:58 (hours:minutes),

not too bad but long enough

Since LHC, is running out of work so much lately, I moved one of my pcs to Bionic - CP.

Beerknurd
11-11-2004, 03:17 AM
I didn't know LHC was back up... Hasn't it been down for a while???

BigDawg

About a month ago they upped their member limit to 6thousand and now they dont have anywork for anybody.

gamer007

Wish they keep us updated. They've also been in maintainance really often.

I know what you mean, I havent gotten a single lhc wu in 4 days, so i have been running SOB straight since then.

Beerknurd

Another reason why Boinc sucks. It's either down for maitenance or out of work. The whole thing sucks.

LHC's finished. There was a message on the official site, not sure if its still accessible. LHC is only accepting any cached work you have. Run it and send it in ASAP.

Beerknurd
11-11-2004, 05:40 AM
Wow that was fast. Here today, gone tomorrow. Another Boinc failure. What a shame. :?

Empty_5oul
11-11-2004, 11:09 AM
yep,

CP doesnt seem to have had any probs in BOINC yet tho, i have always been able to get work (only 1 WU so far) but it will last me a while., and the pending credit / trickle actually works unlike most of the other projects
where this feature is "temporarily turned off"

Beerknurd
11-11-2004, 12:01 PM
Boinc still needs alot of work... There's plenty of other projects to run....

Beer,

They never said it was a failure.
It seems that they simply have to shut down for the Christmas period.
They were intending to resume early next year.
Besides, at some point they are going to have to use their puters to analyse all the results you sent in.
Maybe you swamped them !
LOL

I actually liked doing LHC, could crank those wu's out in no time.(when i could
get them)...The firefly looking graphics were cool

gamer007
11-11-2004, 05:18 PM
Like LHC too. Where did they say they closed? The status says "Up,out of work". :?

vaughan

Follow the link on their home page to status report. Here:

Thanks Vaughan. Read that, but never bothered to read that far.

Boinc just has too many bugs for me... I like staqble things I don't have to worry about like SOB, Ubero, Lifemapper, D2OL, etc.....

I hate coming home and finding out that all that time was wasted cause LHC ran out of work or had some kind of error.

But that's just my opinion.

gamer007
11-13-2004, 01:37 AM
Doesn't anyone here run more than one BOINC project? I'm in S@H, LHC, Einstein. Waiting for Predictor to come back up.

Beerknurd
11-13-2004, 01:58 AM
I would run more than 1, but I like to run other stuff too. Running all those at once would eat up too much processing power.

gamer007
11-13-2004, 02:47 AM
You know after a specified amount of time, BOINC switches WUs for different projects? At first, I thought it does all the WUs all at the same time. But I then found out it switches.

jlangner
11-13-2004, 02:58 AM
I put 2 pcs on CP-Bionic.

Beerknurd
11-13-2004, 03:03 AM
I just need more computers.....

BigDawg
11-13-2004, 03:33 AM
if you run boinc seti. you can go to your account page there and set the pref for how many minutes each boinc project will run before it switches.
assuming you have the shares split evenly.

Beerknurd
11-13-2004, 04:42 AM
It's safe to say, I run a Boincless ship here.

Empty_5oul
11-13-2004, 07:39 PM
beer, i think everyone gets the idea you dont like BOINC and never will.

stick to the other projects we run, have you thought of trying TSC or do you run it, a few dumps in that would really push up up the rankings and secure 20/21/22 position

Beerknurd
11-14-2004, 04:54 AM
I'm concentrating on SOB. I'm running it without transmitting intermidiate blocks. I runs faster that way. Then every 2 days I finish a test. I'm running over 2.3 M with 1 client. That's pretty good.

BigDawg
11-14-2004, 05:22 AM
i will have to try that, how much did it improve your performance?

Empty_5oul
11-14-2004, 10:00 AM
thats kool beer, every few days i am expecting a jump in the stats then.

btw dave you are doing well, 50,000 a hour -- if only BI was here to help.
