AMD has planned to release 4 and 8 core Bulldozer CPUs for desktop users this year (http://www.techspot.com/news/41076-amd-unveils-20112012-roadmap-for-servers-desktops-laptops.html) while on the server side of things we can await 8, 12 and 16 core CPUs, code-named "Interlagos". 2012 will even see 20-core CPUs (:5eek:), code-named "Terramar"...Intel will doubtlessly reply with an improvement on their Sandybridge
