what have you done with the stats today. when i looked earlier seti was red but since has turned green :S?? -have you updated it multiple times?

also i cant understand the chessbrain stats either, i have had the client running since yesterday when i closed the lot and re-opened them all yet my score has not increased. when i just checked the peer client the scroll bar is tiny and much processing has taken place :? any reason ?????

i like having the names donw the middle makes it much easier to follow your name.

Oli,

ref previous post by vaughan, our resident CB expert:
http://amdusers.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=8671&sid=28a7c39995e77a276979f5207ffcada8#8671

whilst the "opponent" is thinking client is idle...but then when it's "our" turn...well just make sure you've got a reliable CPU fan. LOL

Sorry Oli, sometimes I forget to update "OUR" chess stats.

It's a manual process and I'm only sub-human ;)

i thought you had found a way so it calculated it automatically, and i didnt have the logon to hand so i couldnt look at V's scores.

Hey Stuart...

How come I have Chessbrain stats??? Both my nodes are under Vaughan's name. Are you getting my results from him?????

Chessbrain still isn't accepting new users.....

you can't beat a manual system tho - it will never fail and can always easily be perfected while trying to edit excel can become a nightmare

Websites for TKC, LHC and Predictor were not available when the stats were produced today.

The Seti Classic team position http://gemini.setiatwork.com/cgi-bin/compare_teams.cgi?id=316&type=0
hasn't been updated since 27 November

2 new members found in stats, zeldoi5 in WCG and aslabend in Grid.

100 (92 active) in WCG

AMDave
12-02-2004, 10:08 AM
I noticed that too.

I have posted the Gemini admin.

Their Orion server is working fine though:
http://www.setiatwork.com/cgi-bin/wkystat.pl?group=AMD+Users
but does not have the team ranks.

There is no info on their site of a problem.

Maybe they no one told them

Anyway. I'll wait for a response and we sould find out by Monday.

Ototero, there was a newcomer at Pirates this past weekend that isn't in your tables yet. It's Gremlen and he's already at 3rd of the 6 people accounted for.
And strangely bwhite hasn't got his values there, just the empty green and red cells...

Ototero
12-13-2004, 07:11 PM
Gremlen is in tomorrows stats.

And I noticed bwhites score as well. I'll keep an I on it tomorrow.

Ototero
01-03-2005, 08:53 PM
The stats might be very late tomorrow (Tuesday 4th).

If they are not there by lunch time (GMT), they will be by 8pm (GMT)

Question : why are we moving backwards in WP and TKC? It costs nothing to run. Come on guys, what ever you are running, do these two as well.

I hate seeing RED all over my stats.

I must acknowledge the old matrix by FreeDC. I just got fed up not having a more current info so I it was time to do something about it.

I am not far off finishing the "smart" page...It peaked at 42.1 deg Cel. this afternoon so I spent some time in the pool and the air-con. No work done. I have a project due tomorrow, so I should be able to finish it after that.

Ototero & Empty_5oul

I have PM'd you both the solution to the format problem.

I have emailed you both a zipped example.

It was not the solution that I originally thought of.

This is a different solution to the last one.

just wondering in the stats a slight problem with TKC. we have become rank 70, in the target column it stats rank sub 70, shall we count the rank 70 as passing the target - so we meet it today -- or sub meaning below we have to be at least 69 ?

Ototero
01-22-2005, 10:48 AM
Technically, sub 70 is when we achieve target. At least we know we will get the target.

Empty_5oul
01-22-2005, 11:01 AM
so shall i always count it as 1 under, so we will have to be 69 for sub 70, 99 for sub 100 etc.

I didn't get the last version of your stats engine and step sheet by email. Can you zip & email so next time I could try to help you out ?

If you are away, Oli and I should be able to work it out. I wouldn't need the ftp, I could just post the results on my site & Oli could ftp them in to the forum when he gets the chance.

Thanks, Vaughan, for that link; it worked!
I was trying to go in through the Community page on their site, and I couldn't get it to work.

I'm not using Windows; I'm using Slackware Linux. For the Linux CB client, the user number goes into the cbspn.conf file in the working directory.

The nice thing about running the linux client is that it can be run on any spare machine that you run into (e.g. at work) without having to install anything. Just boot from a Knoppix cd, copy the CB client from a floppy or jump drive and run it.

vaughan
02-19-2005, 05:03 AM
Ahh that makes it a Chess Borg then! Nice. Do you have to renice it so that it doesn't interfere with the user's work?

Can you post the full instructions for setting it up on a Thumb Drive? I have a 128MB is that enough? I can borg, I mean borrow, Doomeva's 512MB one if required.

Will it run on a P133 from a CD?

Vaughan,

A P133 isn't enough to run CB because of the real-time nature of the task. I've found that it takes about a 333Mhz machine to run a single CB client. If you run a too slow machine (or too many clients) the jobs don't get completed with the assigned depth. For the same reason, you can't nice it down.

I only commandeer machines that are unused. There are a couple of laptops that are only used to control some high speed cameras. A good example is a generic desktop PC in th lab that's never used. I don't have administrator privilages, so I can not install the CB windows client. I can, however, boot Knoppix Linux from a CD and run CB clients. A nice thing about running like this is that the machine can be reset or turned off any time, so you can put a note on the machine that says "Reset this machine if you need it"

All you need on the thumb drive is the cbspn executable (418k) and the cbspn.conf file (1k), so a floppy would work, too.

The procedure (after booting Knoppix) would be:
start a console window by clicking the monitor icon
su #to get root privilages (no password)
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt #mount the thumb drive
cp /mnt/cb* . #copy the files
umount /mnt #unmount the thumb drive
cbspn #run the CB client

Then you can open additional console instances to run additional clients.

Empty_5oul

seems always to be around that. - i guess some of it would be the broadband as well. here the speed is pretty high compared to some of my local friends who also have a 512 connection.
Search "speed tester" in google and run this on a few machines - see how your speed compares to your mates. I reckon if yours is slightly lower that could be why you find 20 to be the maximum whereas i can get 25. ** the processors may be capable of more on a better link **

if dimes is down already maybe that shows it isn't worth adding yet as it is not established enough.

NeoGen
03-13-2005, 08:21 AM
I think Dimes is hanging in there well, I've been checking it everyday and that was the only time it was down.
Ototero, watch your 6 on Dimes... And you too Empy_5oul, I'm coming up... :P

NeoGen
03-13-2005, 08:39 AM
And on a side note, Ototero, check the stats page on the monthly positions. I think that for October 1st both DNet projects are shifted 1 cell up. And the value for EON is on Einstein's cell too, also shifted up.

Empty_5oul
03-13-2005, 09:17 AM
i guess that is where he added the two projects recently, must have distorted the rest of the cells.

Ototero
03-13-2005, 11:45 AM
Oooooppppps. Another manual error.

It's corrected. It's a good job I have so many proof-readers.

NeoGen
03-13-2005, 03:34 PM
Ototero, you only corrected Einstein's value for October. :P
The value in DNet OGR should be in RC5-72, and the one in RC5-72 should be on DPAD.

NeoGen
03-13-2005, 03:59 PM
And by the way... we could use a couple of corrections to the DC Matrix sheet. We got teams both on Riesel Sieve and Prime Sierpinsky, even tough it says there we don't...
And I wouldn't dare to ask for those two being included in the stats... maybe next month or some other time.. :P

I'm on fire today... just catching glitches...

Ototero
03-13-2005, 05:12 PM
Ha, October should have been deleted. I only maintain 5 columns.

Empty_5oul

But, it's a valid solution... :P

Ototero
03-13-2005, 07:27 PM
Sorry about that. But I've only ever kept 5 days and 5 months. I must have been distracted before I saved to code.

NeoGen
03-15-2005, 05:27 PM
Ototero, you're gonna kill me for being such a pain in the ass, but I think I found a few more glitches on our stats pages... :P

On our personal stats page, the Dimes project column is strange... The values are different from the Dimes site stats, some values are higher, others are lower. Note that I'm not complaining, according to your stats I'm in 3rd place on our team, ahead of vaughan and Empty_5oul :D
And on the Dimes stats page we got a user called "Hypnosis", while in our stats page that user is "hyperspace". Do you know if it is the same guy with different usernames?
And to finalize, a question... why is it accounted for in the personal stats the number of measurements and on the team stats the number of AS links?

Ok... I think I've said it all.. you can kill me now... :P

Ototero
03-15-2005, 06:31 PM
I must admit, I put the active personal page together quickly. Right now it's semi-automatic.

I was supposed to working at home but......you know how it is.

I was trying to add together the different names for each user. It seems I've mixed to position for one with the score of the other.

Question. What do you want the scoring to be. On "Measurments" or "Nodes and Links"

NeoGen
03-15-2005, 07:06 PM
I personally would prefer measurements as it's what the project does all the time. AS links seem to be a bonus, we only catch one or two every so often.

AMDave
03-16-2005, 09:18 AM
Great work guys.

NeoGen
03-16-2005, 01:43 PM
I am amazed!
Ototero, you can predict the future??

According to the Dimes stats today I am in 3rd place, ahead of vaughan and Empty_5oul, just as I saw on your stats! :D

I bow to you, great profet! Please tell me more about my future! :notworthy:

p.s. - This weekend's lottery numbers would come in handy... ;)

NeoGen
03-16-2005, 02:40 PM
And another bad news... :-(

In the personal stats it seems like the whole WC Grid column is mixed up. For example, there's no project leader (should be melissad, by what I saw in the site) but there are at least half a dozen people in 2nd place...

Ototero
03-16-2005, 06:09 PM
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Lottery numbers will be 3 9 21 24 39 47, but I want to win it all. So please don't take any notice of the numbers.

Here I go again...

My keen eagle eye spotted another another prey... it seems on the chessbrain's personal stats table there are two people in second place (bwhite and vaughan) and none in first.
And on DPAD the people beyond rank 17 have no points showing. In the DPAD site we really only have 17 people in our team... so I guess the remaining ones up to rank 25 that are on our stats table but without points are members that left the team?

NeoGen
04-02-2005, 04:18 AM
Ok... just one more and then I'll shut up for a while... :P

Still in the personal stats table... the Einstein@home column has very few people, needs updating. We have 161 contributing members in the project and in our table it only appear about 15 or so.

Ototero
04-02-2005, 08:16 PM
Stats are up. But just one thing, I changed the source for Climate prediction and screwed up badly.

They will self correct tommorrow.

Neo, chessbrain is sill screwed, I know what the error is. I'll fix that tomorrow.

And, can you give me the link to Einstein, it maybe different to mine.

NeoGen
04-02-2005, 10:28 PM
The link to their first 20 teams sorted by total credit that I see is the same as in your stats page:
http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/top_teams.php?sort_by=total_credit

For members listings it's a bit tougher, as they only display 20 people at a time. You would have to have 9 links to get everyone's stats?
Or taking the whole list straight from the xml file? That's way beyond my knowledge already...

Ototero
04-03-2005, 01:41 PM
OK, about 100 new people added to Einstein. These will show up tomorrow.

Ototero

Once all the new stats have been downloaded, it takes about 2-3 minutes.

That's on an AMD 64 3000+, 1 gigle of ram.

I think the next enhancement will be to separate the boinc from the non-boinc. And have a link to each.

What say you all?

Massive spreadsheets can get very confusing.

Oh, I know that so well...

Ototero must have shivered just to see this thread up in the top again, and with my name on "Last Post" :P

Yea, unfortunately I found some more inconsistencies.
In the personal stats table, it seems that in Grid.org it shows the points of each member, but the ranks are sorted according to cpu time. For example, bsogard (that has the most cpu time) is in first place in our stats when Mike Orwick is in second place and has way more points than him (but less cpu time).

Ototero
04-04-2005, 04:16 PM
Thanks Neo

But you'll all have to wait until Wednesday now. My laptop modem is playing up. I can't get a connection.

We're missing more than 20 people on our personal stats table in Climate Prediction. As of now we got 59 contributing users, and our table only shows 36.

Still in the same table, in about every 20 rows you have a row with the projects names for easier referencing, but from the member skuzz and below until the end there is no more project names rows. It's probably some 100 rows or more like that.

I really have to get another hobby... :P

Loads of us are missing from Chess Brain today. Including me. But we still held 3rd place.

that is some entrance as other crunchers ahve soem high scores, do points move with individuals in this then ?? or does the team keep what is produced with them ??

Ototero, I found one more project you could add on the finished projects section. The good old Genome@Home.

We ended in 453rd rank with 6169.70 points by what I see on their website. Unfortunately the team members listing isn't online anymore, but I'm sure I crunched for that project. :P

Ototero... long time no bug catching... ;) :P

Got a couple of questions...
Why is the list of inactive projects on the bottom of the stats page so small? In the DC Matrix (the one you have a link to on the stats page, not the one listed in the menu) it lists quite a few inactive projects that we had team on. And I noticed that you haven't yet added Genome@Home on the small list. :P

And on that same DC Matrix page, we're missing two projects that I spotted, Dimes and Burp.

Ototero
06-07-2005, 11:53 AM
Neo,

Of all the completed projects listed in the DC Matrix, I can only find NFSNET. All the others give 404 errors.

Except of cause, the 2 that I have in my stats.

NFSNET looks like it has re-started, and we don't have a team in there.

Yes... unfortunately most of our team's history records are already lost in time...

I found the Genome@Home site, it's not the one that is on the DC Matrix page.
Their site is this one now:
http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/genome/

If you go to their teams listing (link below) you'll see us in 453rd place.
http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/genome/teamstats.html

But sadly the personal team pages are gone... :-(

Sorry Guys,

There will be no stats for 2 days. I have to go away for the weekend (to Ellesmere in Shropshire) to do the results for a triathlon. 767 competitors, it's a world qualifying event.

Good to see you back Beer. :D

They should have changed the course so it came past your house
Hope you had a good weekend, Ototero. :D

I've just found a bug in firefox.

It can't handle numeric style sheet identifiers

The stats will look a little green for a while.

They look fine in IE.

was it cause of the new stats system or the server ??

Ototero

Definately the server. Some msg came up about disk quotas.

Jeff
07-24-2005, 02:10 AM
Apparently someone used an email address attached to my account in the header of spam message.

So far, approx 7000 emails have been returned to me as non-deliverable. This is why the disk quota was full.

Ototero, the inactive projects info that used to be on the bottom of the stats page disappeared.

Ototero

I think that was due to the ftp problems, it was a partial upload. It's ok today :)

Is chessbrain running again?
On bok's stats it seems to be running, and on Ototero's stats I even got a green on my chessbrain points in the personal stats... but the funny thing is that I don't even have the chessbrain agent installed anymore :P

AMDave

No.
From bok's Chessbrain stats page:
Data Last Checked : 2005-07-27 14:59:48
Data Last Updated : 2005-05-29 14:09:06 ***
Current Time is 2005-07-29 04:32:22

*** The stats file has not been updated for quite some time.

NeoGen
07-29-2005, 10:38 AM
Oops... didn't notice the date :P

But anyways... shouldn't the values on the "yesterday", "two days ago", "last week"...etc, etc... be all at zeros?

AMDave
07-29-2005, 11:41 AM
the file has not been updated so there are no zeros to process.
I think the CB stat is based on copy date of the file.
Bok will let me know if I am wrong.
If a change to the file came through today, I expect that the page would immediately fill in the gap with the expected zeros.
...unfortunately it looks like that is unlikely to happen though.
Still no further info on CB.

No R&R I'm afraid, I'm working for a company called Argos (www.argos.co.uk). Some code changes required. The IT dept is in Milton Keynes. 150 miles from home, so no commuting

If/when I get access to a modem, I'll put up some stats.

Yea, all have been updated today (4th). Only problem I spotted was that Boinc Synergy isn't updating the stats for sztaki for a while, and ours depend on theirs. We have some more thousands of credits already, seeing on the top teams table of the sztaki site.

With some help from Jeff, I tried FTPing from dos and IE, each time it failed. Perhaps that upset yesterdays stats after Oli put up my earlier ones.

I've just emailed him with todays ones. When there are done, all will look ok again :)

Jeff
08-10-2005, 11:00 AM
Hmm. I have no idea why it would have failed. I use that method all the time. I did upload the files now though

IT WORKED.

i found yesterdays problem and failure was cause i dragged all 3 from my desktop to online. I did the same today and it made a mess again. If i put all 3 up individually they work though, so i will do that from now on.

(Ot- can you zip the 3 HTML's into 1 zip file rather than zipping each of them individually - just make sit easier to dl from hotmail)

Ototero

I can try, there is no winzip on my office machine, or firefox, or anything good actually.

Hey Ototero

Spotted a glitch on the daily stats today. Burp is showing the rank as sorted by Recent Average Credit, and not by total credit.

By Total Credit we're in 18th.

Here's a link to the top teams sorted by total credit.
http://burp.boinc.dk/top_teams.php?sort_by=total_credit
