Nice rank jump of 7 places today in OGR-P2, Team.

21 days to go to achieve rank 1000 or better
Rate req per day now 3588.
This is easily within capability.

Indeed, a little more activity and we can knock this one over earlier and move on to the next target in another project.

Hey Vaughan,
you forgot to switch from RC5 and now Jeff has taken your rank.
Surely you're not going to let that pass ?

I didnt expect this to run for so long.. I see my alter ego has been knocked down a rung, I'll switch to it after we break 500 on F@H, unless something else comes up.

Yeah AMDave, I didn't see that coming. Been playing around with Mandrake and eOn a bit today. Also followed Stu's advice and put the xp3200+ on DHEP. I can't stand "running as a Service" so I e v e n t u a l l y got the thing running with a Java & DOS box.

Hey Stu - how the hell do you stop DHEP? I had to click the X as it wouldn't obey Ctrl - C.

Also, how long does a task take on a 3200?

Ototero

X shuts it off ok.

there's no concept of WUs. the java looks at the island, and processes what nobody else is.

I set my parms in the batch file to
-i 5 -c 5 so every 5 mins it sends current pos back to base.

You can kill the app at any time with no loss. Nothing is stored on your computer.

I wasn't going to post anther update for a couple of days, but there's news.

Our Dnet team has a new, high performing member today.

"grunt187" has joined us from the lofty heights of the Dnet projects, having overall project individual ranks of 4088 in RC5-72 and 14220 in OGR-25 (Phase II).

We're going to have to watch our backs in the team ranks here as they have already grabbed team rank 17 in RC5-72 and 16 in OGR-25

I'd like to welcome "grunt187" into the team and thanks for joining.
I hope you come to the forum and tell us of your experiences.

The OGR-25 team made another rank increase overnight and the required rate to acheive the sub-1000 goal by Christmas is being maintained. Actually we should get there in about 2 weeks at this rate.

Keep at it lads. We are making good time.

AMDave

For anyone else who has this problem...

Let Dnet complete at least 1 RC5-72 WU, then force a manual update
GUI Client:
menu > Client > Update Buffers
CLI Client (in its folder):
dnetc -update

That pushes at least 1 stat into the database which updates between 23:59 and 00:30 UTC.

Once the database has updated you can search on the email
you used to register to find your stats, then click on the
"Please email me my password" button.

Then you can join a team and also use the member number and
password to change your profile.

Beerknurd

All my client would ever run was RC5-72 units.... I tried changing things in the options, but it would never run OGR-P2 projects.

AMDave
12-11-2004, 07:43 AM
The default setting will cause it to start OGR when the RC5 wu's are done...as long as that is inside the defaiult buffer refresh time.
I expect you ran it on the Gateway.

currried prawns distract the poster...mmmmmm...bye

Beerknurd
12-11-2004, 07:46 AM
No one the Dell..... WHAT THE HELL IS A CURRIED PRAWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beerknurd
12-11-2004, 07:54 AM
Since your busy feeding your face, I did a little research.....

Curried Prawns Australian Style

1 1/2 kg cooked prawns, (3 lb) shelled (reserve shells and heads)
2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
3 largeonions, chopped
4 small cloves garlic, chopped
1 tablespoon curry powder
salt and freshly ground pepper
4 large sticks celery, chopped finely
2 small capsicums, seeded and chopped
4 tomatoes, chopped, or 1 small can tomatoes, drained
2 teaspoons sugar
1 bay leaf, crushed
1/2 teaspoon basil
1 tablespoon tomato paste
2 cups shrimp stock
grated rind and juice of 2 lemons
chopped parsley

Make stock with prawn shells and heads. Cook the prawn shells and
heads in salted water or tomato juice or wine or water.

In a heavy pan melt butter or oil, add onions and garlic and fry
until a pale golden colour.

Add curry powder, pepper and salt, celery, capsicums, tomatoes,
sugar, bay leaf, basil and tomato paste. Cook slowly over a medium
heat for 15 minutes. Stir in stock, add peeled prawns and warm
through. Do not cook the prawns or the dish will be spoilt. When
dish is hot, stir through lemon rind and juice. Serve the curried
prawns on a bed of fluffy rice or with lots of fresh, crisply cooked
vegetables, hot rolls or toast fingers. Garnish with parsley.

Serves 4-6

Sounds disgusting.... But then again I don't eat anything that swims.....

AMDave
12-11-2004, 08:23 AM
MMMMMMMM !!!!!
Much better than it sounds.
Don't know wher you got the "stock" making bit from. Iiiiiik.

No we have ours in a curried cheese sauce.
Tasty.

Beerknurd
12-11-2004, 08:42 AM
It still has seafood in it... So I agree it's gross.

AMDave
12-11-2004, 09:02 AM
haha.
It's definitely an Aussie thing.

Look forward to seeing you in the Dnet stats.
We have another 6 days or less to grab the OGR target.

FANTASTIC EFFORT Yesterday - an 11 Rank increase in OGR !

I like it a LOT :D

DMMc - you know kung fu !
(haven't seen you on the site for a while)

Beerknurd your email has been sent, I will leave the rest to you.

Beerknurd
12-12-2004, 03:18 AM
Ok i'm on the team..... But it said any stats that I have won't show up until the next stats update.... Which won't be many, if any at all...

AMDave
12-12-2004, 07:45 AM
Every little bit counts.

Take a look at our leaders.
Over time it all adds up.

Great to see NeoGen has been active and I saw a few submissions by my local team-mate Stim.

We're going to knock this one over in a few days.
Then I really ought to do something about stomping those lads in RC5 who don't seem to like changing their dnet settings

NeoGen
12-12-2004, 08:09 AM
Just missed today's share due to an overload of Pirates work :P
Crunching the last few packets and then it's off to OGR.

btw... why was Pirates taken off the huge stats spreadsheet? I mean, the users one, in the projects one it's still there and shining :)

AMDave
12-12-2004, 08:22 AM
I don't think it has been removed.
I know it made it onto the projects list, but I think that it hasn't made it to the individual stats yet.
Question for Ototero I think.

Empty_5oul
12-12-2004, 09:24 AM
how does it split or decide which to do OGR or RC5 ??

im not particually bothered as we need to do both - but it spent maybe the first 5 hours on RC5 and ever since has been on OGRp2.

AMDave
12-12-2004, 09:35 AM
the default sets you up with about 24 WU's of each.

RC5 takes about 15 mins per WU
OGR takes as long as it takes 10 mins to 1 hour

You can change the settings by using the confiig option in the "Client" menu
then select the Buffer settiings option.

There you will find the orders of preference and the buffer level check interval and (for RC5 only) the fetch threshold.

If you haven't found the manual and read it though, I would recommend leaving your settings alone.

Empty_5oul
12-12-2004, 11:15 AM
k, i probably wasnt going to change them but thought it was worth mentioning as we need to make quicker progress in one than the other.

AMDave
12-12-2004, 11:20 AM
Yep.
your default settings are currently making progress in OGR
where we are aiming to get below 1000 this week.

Thanks for the boost Chaz.

Congrats to the F@H team too.
Looks like you're going to be sub-500 tomorrow.

AMDave
12-13-2004, 01:17 AM
...and when we're really pithed and there's noone else to take the pith out of, we'll drink some more pith and just take the pith out of each other

DMMc
12-13-2004, 10:32 PM
Is it that it's too warm down there and the heat got to you Aussies or what? You're all just Pithing around....
And speaking of the heat...
Anyone have any REALLY HOT curry recipes ? I've got one taste bud and it needs stimulation....( shades of Lister )

AMDave
12-13-2004, 11:25 PM
LOL

For the record it is 37.6 celcius outside my garage door.

also for the record I am wearing nothing but GREEN today in the spirit of some rank improvements :D

Mmmmm. Curry. Love this site:
http://www.rubymurray.com/

It's all down to which peppers you use for the curry powder & how much you add. Tumeric, Cummin and Paprika powder usually feature for flavouring the base, whether is is beef, chichen, pork, fish etc.
Talk to your local deli. If they don't have it they will get it.

AMDave
12-14-2004, 12:15 AM
Nice logo change dave.

oh and by the way YIKES the paving outside is burning hot

Temp gauge now says 40.1 cel = 104.5 fah

time to hit the pool....now where are my GREEN swimming shorts.....

Can you tell...? Can you tell...? Can you tell...?
Its a GREEN day today.

Not really but I'm jealous...18 deg. F here currently with a wind chill in the 0 range...

New avatar is family clan crest. Was either that or the tartan…May have to do a combining of the 2.

AMDave
12-14-2004, 11:40 PM
Eeeeeeek. Chilly !

Speaking of chilli's ... be careful of some of those curry recipies ... or you will be very glad of your ambient temperature

(ie do not go for the "Nuclear" curries or the "Brittish Army" curry - it is my personal opinion that they were designed as culinary weapons)
