Jeff... that is some bad news sprung on the last minute. :icon_neutral:

I'm sending some $$$ your way. Please tell me you can hold our hosting while others have time to read the news and contribute too.

It's sent!

Sorry for the delay... had to have a little fight with paypal! They wouldn't accept my cards because I was registered in portugal... the only way was to close the account and re-create it again.
Anyways, I'm now armed and ready with a US paypal account for future transactions.

COME ON EVERYONE!!
The clock is ticking... Please help keep the site up!

Thanks Jorge. It is my fault about the last minute notice. They sent me a notice a month ago and then another last night. I completely forgot! I can renew another month to let more folks read this!

How are you liking arkansas?

It's a good, relaxing and peaceful place, even the capital Little rock is not that big of a city. :)
I work at Heifer International which if you look it up you can see how it's surrounded by green areas almost all around and the building even has a "moat" (so to speak) where you can see several species of fish and some turtles wandering about. Saw turtles on the parking lot more than once already, I was surprised at their speed on land, they are not as slow as I always thought they were. lol

But... back to subject... how are we doing Jeff? Have there been anonymous contributors? Are we close to hitting the minimum for 1 more year at least?

Nope, just you and Vaughan so far.

I'm going to extend it for a month and see what happens.

EDIT: I extended for 3 months. If it doesn't work out, I'll refund you guys your money!

Jeff, is there a 4 or 5 year option maybe?

If yes, we could shoot for it. :)

Neogen, are you sure AMDusers is alive after 5 year? Better take one year because we dont know who will happen in the near future.

As long as AMD keeps making CPUs.....just making my 2nd Llano system, then I will build a new system for my son, he just received a tax refund.
Hopefully Trinity will be out then. Been running Boinc and before that Seti Classic since 1999, so I hope to be good for at least another 13 years!

Is there a way to make the visitors 'pay' for the site (by visiting a page with advertising from one of our affiliates
the affiliate donates a dollarcent to our hosting)?

AMDave

Absolutely!
Dirk, you really don't have enough hardware. You need more. Click here: http://stats.amdusers.com/affiliates.html
The affiliates page is in the main menu and the links works as a channel, but the rate of purchase through the channel is low.
Like I said, you everyone needs new hardware. Click here to satisfy your need: http://stats.amdusers.com/affiliates.html

Dirk Broer

Yes,

We need hardware, and we CAN click on 'Affiliates', but it would help if a page visit on any page could automatically generate money.
Perhaps the affiliates could be asked whether they would want a small banner on a page which can be clicked.
BOINCStats has banners, FreeDC even has banners aimed at me specifically -In Dutch, for Dutch shops- so why can't we?

NeoGen
06-15-2012, 09:57 PM
It's not FreeDC itself that puts dutch banners, but the advertising companies they use that catch your IP address and geolocate it to provide you banners in your language and products closer to you. It's all in aiming the product to the person. :)

We do have an always present Amazon banner on the top section of the forums here, but I don't know how it works in terms of generating revenue.

That is really good to read

Jeff

The Amazon banner generates very little revenue. I think we have like 5-6 dollars in that account and it can't be withdrawn until we reach 50, I think. Advertising on a site like this is hard...

So Jeff, are we covered at least until 2015? Assuming the world doesn't end this year. :)

By the way, don't we have to renew with vBulletin too every so often? Lets make sure we got all bases covered.

AMDave

Transfer completed. HTH.

Jeff

Thanks Dave!! We are renewed for 40 months!

I believe we own a lifetime licence for vBulletin. If my memory serves correctly, when we upgraded to the vBulletin Publishing Suite, we purchased the lifetime license. I think this was in 2010

Thanks again everyone - we should have all of our bases covered for at least 2015.

Jeff
06-20-2012, 02:48 PM
Yep - we have the lifetime license for vBulletin v4. When v5 comes out, if we decide to purchase, we'll have to buy another license.

NeoGen
06-25-2012, 06:01 AM
As long as they keep supporting and doing security patches for v4 we should be good. Maybe around 2015 we will think about upgrading it? lol :)
