We passed 5 billion (http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=teambycpid&team=AMD+Users) recently.
It has been a while since this post (http://www.amdusers.com/forum/showthread.php?6416-1-billion-credits!!!!&highlight=billion)
Vaughan has cranked out 20% of the total (http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=userteamcomb&team=AMD%20Users)
After 10 years we are 31st in the world ranks (http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=boincteams).
Not bad for a bunch of amateurs ;)

Guess I better tighten up a bit...seems I'm listed as 88th on the team for total points...BIG CONGRATS to Vaughan for his 1,127,896,888 points !!! WOW :)

Congratulations everyone!!!
Seems like we are ramping up fast, the first billion took a long time, and now we are already at 5!! :)

And special congrats to Vaughan on his 1 billion too! I envy those numbers, but I sure don't envy his monthly electricity bill.:icon_razz:

Thanks for noticing Neogen. I seriously considered stopping DC'ing at the 1B mark but decided to push on.

The computers help with heating the house now its Winter here. I might have to adopt Liuqyn's procedure when Summer arrives. (Power off).

Hi Vaughan,

Congratulations on your 1B! No need to power off though, you could consider the Opteron 4256 EE (http://www.alternate.de/html/product/AMD/Opteron_4256EE/979240/?) as your next processor to keep it cool.:icon_cool:
A Socket C32 8-core cpu that only needs 32 Watt to operate, that's a mere 4 Watt per core!
And if you're willing to run an 8-core at 50 Watt (6.25 Watt/Core) there is an even broader choice of C32 CPUs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Opteron_microprocessors#Opteron_4200-series_.22Valencia.22_.2832_nm.29)
The downside might be the availability of Socket C32 mobo's, and their sometimes non-standard format (http://www.alternate.de/html/product/listing.html?navId=11632&tk=7&lk=3496)

Congrats Vaughan!! That is a great accomplishment!! I don't have the time or money anymore to keep up with the DC world. But I am still here in spirit!!

Time should be no problem (see Bender10, just let them run), but money, now there's the knack...
One of my boxes has a 3-core Llano A6-3500 APU (62 Euro's nowadays, at 65 Watt Tdp, my most economic system), able to run 3 normal WUs along with 3 FreeHAL, a WUProp and a Collatz WU on its internal HD 6530D. And it hardly spreads heat as well, having no hot video card or cpu.

We need to pick it up just a little bit guys, based on our current recent average credit, we will reach 6 billion on December 22nd 2012, problem is, the world is set to end on December 21st!

Added a HD 6670 to the afore mentioned Llano system
