Thank you Ototero! :D

I´m one of the new members. My alias is Lagu and i am chrunching for D2OL and is on the 17 Th place in AMD-Users. My PC is an Athlon 64 with ABIT Uguru motherboard, 512 mb RAM, 80 GB Maxtor HDD. But the CPU is wery hot: 176 farenhigt. I think I must buy a new fan with heat sink. Has anyone soma problems? How have you solve this problem?

Thanks for any answer.

Kind regards
Lars-Gunnar

hello,
we noticed a while back as our d2ol rate jumped a little.

many people have heat problems, the usual solution is to upgrade the fan and get something a bit more powerful. I wouold say read some reviews etc and go for a well known brand - many people like coolermaster and thermaltake (for fans only --remember the cooler you want it, the more noise).

Just wondering whcih abit motherboard you have ?? i have the AV8 with 3rd eye (U guru) is that the same or not.

Thanks Lars,

My 3000 64 was also running hot, I bought a bigger fan, mounted 2 case fans then bought a HD cooler.
52C 125F now.

Hi all,

I've been an AMD fan for years, my current PC is one I built round an AMD64.
It seemed that this was the obvious team to join, let's hope I can help to keep us ahead of the Intel crowd!

hi, welcome to the team.

" keep ahead of intel"
you seem to have good priorities

beer - intel in moderation is good - but not comparable to AMD

I'll just plug away at SOB and Ubero then..... That is until I can convince my wife to let me have another computer... And since we just bought a house, it may be a while....

Empty_5oul

you will have all that empty room though, you did have an apartment now a whole house. Surely you can make room for a computer when doubling your living/accomodation size.

Oh we have the room... Just no money..... Closing costs suck.

Hey, I'm up to 4 or 5 posts already.

Since I'm new here, I'll show a list of what I'm running at home:

1.........AMD XP 3000+
5.........AMD XP 1800+
1.........Athlon 1300
1.........Athlon 1000
3.........Duron 950
4.........AMD K6 550
1.........AMD K6 366
1.........AMD K6 333
0.........Intel

And a bunch of older ones that I don't bother to run (but they are set up and in running condition)

Oh, yah did I mention I'm an AMD fan? Ok, I admit it; I'm one of those crazy guys that keeps too many computers.

I chose the handle "SlackPawn" because I run Slackware Linux a lot and I run Chessbrain a lot. I also run SETI@home just because Chessbrain is intermittant.

good set up,
showing as dave frequently points out with his SOB stats "slow and steady wins the race".

I like the 0 intel touch at the end :)

Me too.

Welcome to the Team Jeffers and SlackPawn.

Nice home grid by the way.

I'll have to show your list to my wife and say
"See, more than 5 is quite common ! Please can I get another one ?" :D

Beerknurd

I may have to try that too....

My technique is to collect all the spare parts, a Floppy Disc Drive here, a CD RW there, a few sticks of DDR RAM etc and then say "Look honey, if I bought a Motherbaord and a CPU I can clean up all this stuff and we'd have another computer". Her reply was "Do your research". Now I took that to mean get some prices, so I did.

Voila the latest rig the P4 3.2 for $400 outlay.

Nice farm Neil :!:

I like the logic applied to selecting a username. Using that theory I'd be ... well I'm not sure as I run / have run almost everything

Beerknurd

I guess my name would be Sobero...

That's actually not bad.....

vaughan,

how about "joamos" ? (jack of all, master of some)

beer,

I hope you are only hypothesising. You have invested a serious amount of personal history in the tag "beerknurd". Surely you'd never turn your back on that?

I chose AMDave because I prefer AMD and I 'ave one (sic. ), and also because it says who I am...I "AM Dave".

---Just for laughs---
my wife is calling me "boofhead" at the moment because I just tore open the top of my right index while helping to renovate a caravan today. I did a good job on it too. It is taking me a long time to type just this note. I'll make up for it when I get my finger out of the splint...

re: "boofhead" - Aussie slang - do a GOOGLE search on the word and you get a good idea of the meaning.
DOH !
