Winter Solstice Challenge Reminder
In just over two days the Winter Solstice Challenge will start. For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, the full force of Winter is soon here. Please come join us in observing one of Nature's way-points...the Winter Solstice. A 3 day (18-21 Dec) Winter Solstice Challenge is being offered on the Proth Prime Search (Sieve) application. 32 & 64 bit builds are available for Mac, Linux, and Windows as well as CUDA/ATI (OpenCL) for the GPU.This will conclude PrimeGrid's 2012 Challenge series (http://www.primegrid.com/challenge/challenge.php). For more information and banter, please see this forum thread (http://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=4678).

December 18 to December 21 - The Winter Solstice Challenge
The only difference between Team Challenges and Project Challenges appears to be the lack of a chat page with the latter. Sorry I missed this.

Welcome to the Year of the Snake Challenge
4 January 2013 18:00 UTC --> 17 January 2013 18:00 UTC.

Special Note: This is the second ever GFN challenge and probably the last, so for those who are not familiar with GFN we are searching for exceptionally large prime numbers. If a prime is found during the challenge it will be the 11th largest prime number ever found. In fact, we found a new GFN prime just two days before the start of the challenge! Let's find one or two more!

A 13 day Challenge celebrating the start of a new year is being offered on PrimeGrid's Generalized Fermat Number (GFN) application. Only SHORT Work Units may be used in this challenge. To participate in the Challenge, please select only the Generalized Fermat Prime Search project and also select Short tasks in your PrimeGrid preferences section. Although the World Record units can also be completed within 13 days, these do not count! You may leave the Block Size setting at 0.

This challenge is extremely sensitive for instability in your system/OC-ing of your CPU
(and about half of the WUs send out returned with error).
Big hands for VALDIS and Wingless Wonder who manage to turn out valid WUs!
