OCZ troubles

OCZ are filing for bankruptcy, according to their own media news:

If Tosh pick up the pieces then it might be possible that some support will be available.
If they don't you'll be buying replacements from someone else.

Serves them right ye maker of shite products. I had multiple OCZ SSDs fail - vowed to never buy from them again, I warned bok not to buy them too and look at the disaster he had with the Free-DC stats!, also had DDR ram and 2 power supplies die prematurely.
Only buy Samsung SSDs, Corsair RAM and Power Supplies now.

I have had good experience with my three OCZ 500 Watt ModXStream-Pro PSUs, but I've read horrendous stories about the OCZ Petrol SSDs.

Corsair is my main RAM brand for the 1600 - 1866 MHz sticks, for faster speeds I rely on G.Skill (as Corsair becomes a. too expensive above 1866 MHz and b. generally has higher latencies above 1866 MHz).
And my APUs rely on fast RAM to give their IGP some air during BOINC.

The Vengeance LP 1600 MHz sticks that replaced the Vengeance 1866 MHz sticks in my A8-3820 box just continued to operate at 1866 MHz, as I had previously manually changed the speed of the RAM in my GA-A75M-UD2H.
And they gave just enough room for my Cooler Master Hyper 412S...under the hood of my Corsair Carbide 200R

Sounds like they bought the OCZ team, the stock and the IP.
60 days to settlement & we will see how well the agreement stands up about honouring warranties for existing customers.

Never had an issue with OCZ products, but then again I only had minimal exposure to them. I have a couple of SSDs (Vertex 4) and they work fine. But like Vaughan I've already moved on to Samsung too, I do have plans to buy more SSDs in the future and they will be Samsung.

I hope Toshiba can actually spruce up OCZs products, but it might be a while until we hear about it or see something new roll out. (That of course if they don't just kill the brand and use the IP for their own lines... which is also an alternative)
