Computers can interference??

This is a very different question and sure much difficult one?

I and my wife have a mobile phone each. It is very common but what as is very uncommon is we use for video talk (sign language) trough USMT net. We have a serious problem. What happen when we are home is we lost our USMT coverage.:( Now I have ponder over if my 4 computers, 2 screens, modem, router, Nova Wiew switch, printer, scanner and 5 adapters together or separately can cause interference so we lost our coverage. We can’t call out nor receive a call. But it goes in waves. Some day it works another day not and it can be so many days in a row.
Only when we are on another place our mobile phones works as they are used for.:)

What do you guys think? It is possible or not?

I'd say its very unlikely that the computers caused the mobile phone problems because you have been using both together for some time.

The mobile phone company may have moved a tower or something. Contact them and ask for their advice.

Did you both use to have a strong signal for the mobile phones at home and now no signal? or did you always have a fairly weak signal (typically shown as 1 or 2 signal bars on the phone)?

Your computers nor 802.11x wireless should affect them sufficiently to lose the signal completely. Often atmospheric changes in the weather can have dramatic affects - and like Vaughan said your provider may have also changed something. Typically, your provider may be able to boost or prioritise your signal if you explain your exceptional need for the phones so definitely worth asking them first.

One solution maybe to ask your provider, if the signal has permanently dropped, to see if they support the newish mobile phones with wireless capabilities so that the call can be rerouted through the internet if signal lost and your connection is enabled via a wireless hub at your home. So worth asking to see if they do VoIP for mobiles (You Swedes are always ahead of the game in the mobile space so you may be lucky!).

And Since my background is in Radio Signals I thought I would chime in here. I have known some cell providers to reduce the output of some towers to conserve energy demand. This of course reduces the strength of radio transmission of certain distances. These distances can be reduced even further if you are over a hill or around a corner per say. There are devices called radials that are added to towers to compensate for this terrain feature. Radials are like little antennas placed at or near the edges of those boxy type arrays on cell towers. they position the strength of the signal for better coverage. Sometimes more is needed in certain directions and upon request can be altered to focus for the customers needs - Aka Lagu and his visual abilities/audible inabilities. Direct contact with the cellphone provider in your area/the company that you have service with will be able to aid you in this recovery of your service. You may have to ask them to turn the power of a particular cell site up so you may be able to use your USMT.

Thank you all. You guys are right. I phoned my ISP today and they didn’t know we had problems. They should check their antennas after any wrong.

My wife has a Nokia New Yorker 5280 and my reseller say it is crap. The battery must be recharged often and the picture quality is not as good as Sony-Ericsson. It is mush as is bad on this mobile phone. I myself have a Sony Ericsson K810i as I have under test during this week. Before I had a Nokia N73 as didn’t work after 2 services and tomorrow I will receive a Sony Ericsson Z610i instead for N73 and I think to buy K810i too. I will buy one to my wife as is much frustrated and take K810i myself.

Today I at least could call for a video talk. The K810i was not right configured and had GSM-net on instead of 3G as should be the right choice. I see Nokia (Finland) as earlier was no. 1 as mobile phone developer has now got down so Sony Ericsson (Sweden) is now on the top. And they make very modern and functional phones and their cameras as show ones face and hands is excellent.

Yes Strongbow, we are a really well favoured folk as is before USA and many other countries when we are talking about video talk using sign language. We have been the world leader in Data but now we have got back a few steps. It has to do with the infrastructure. Our government had said: Broadband to all inside the country and there have been massive works realize this order.

I will tell you how we can buy a mobile phone: At our reseller we can choose whish phone we want and leave the affair without paying one krona. How? Yes we chosen an ISP and commit oneself to this ISP during a 12 month period. During this 12 month we can’t change ISP before 12 month has been reached. Of course we can do a cash purchase. And because we use sign language and not our voice we don’t need pay for it. The monthly fee is therefore relatively low.

I don’t know how it is for you other but if I could “buy” a computer as I buy a mobile phone I think I should have a new one every 2 year.:icon_cool:
