Now that I've flushed the last of the PPS WUs, you should see the rate of approach decrease somewhat :icon_razz:.
:qgreenjumpers::qright5:
Since someone has decided to tune up his turbocharger, I may have to tweak a little harder.

No need for tune ups .... MY Opteron will crush you all...he he he ha ha ha ( fiendish laugh )
surrender now while you still can....
New stats are up, now with minimum and maximum cpu times for workunits working, and a few other corrections. A few oddities appear, like some very short minimum times here and there, but those are real values found in (odd?) workunits.
Seems like meshmar shifted up a gear, but same did vaughan that already caught up and got ahead of Jason. We'll have to see in the next set of stats how the numbers evolve. :)
And in other news, we've just passed the 100K Credits milestone! These 11 machines alone have generated 105,154.94 Credits in 10 days. :icon_mrgreen:
As long as I can maintain that 3K lead over Vaughan, I should be ok. Our crunch rate is very close right now, and I can always break out the Nitromethane for one last push if I need it ...
Just as an aside, I came across this in the forums:
" Prime Sierpinski Project (Sieve) Application builds are available for Linux 32 & 64 bit and Windows 32 & 64 bit. Note: 64 bit Windows and 64 bit Linux benefit from a 1.5X speed advantage over 32 bit...so 1.5X the credit. :) "
That confirms that the 64 bit OS's give a speed advantage for PSP (sieve) ...
Stats update! :)
This race is becoming very interesting between the top 3. :)
Meshmar, your 3K lead is down to 2.6K. Vaughan is crunching like if there's no tomorrow. :icon_twisted:
Hmm, I was really counting on my 1,912.59 pending credit to help me catch up, but you guys are pulling away now, I feel like I'm stuck on a deserted island and you guys are sailing off into the sunset :sad5:
yup, its looking like 3 of our contestants have got it really dialed in for a tight race down to the wire. And we're only about 33% of the way through the month !!
I wonder how one of these new AMD dual core cpus might go in the Quest?
AMD Athlon X2 7750 black edition
Can anyone translate the Turkish language at www.Donanimhaber.com
Well, new stats are up, but I'm unsure if the tweak is working or not. :)
The gap is now at 2.5K, but if the tweak forced a pit stop like for vaughan the other day, then the gap might have been at some point even shorter and now be increasing again. We'll have to see in the next stats run.
I can imagine the sirens playing tonight at meshmar's house when he sees the last update to the stats. :icon_lol:
RED ALERT! RED ALERT!
All personnel to battle stations!
This is NOT a drill!
Check the stats guys! :icon_wink:
:cussing:more storms and more power outages. This is really frustrating. Got the box fine tuned to stay ahead and Mother Nature is being a real mother:cussing:
The power company isn't helping any, either.
For sympathy pains, turn off your contest box for 6 to 8 hours :icon_rolleyes:
:icon_lol:
Meshmar, you said that the lowest score was lower than vaughan's, but beware because that might have been a lucky WU you had. Vaughan's average turnaround for PSP Sieve is still faster than yours, as well as average credit per workunit.
I'm trying to develop something here to show the last day's credits or something similar, but until then be careful, statistics can be deceiving at times.
... And now that I look at it, what the heck is wrong here?? The statsman is not supposed to be placed last! I have to fix this! :icon_mrgreen: :icon_lol: :icon_lol:
looking at stats you can really tell who is on 32 and 64 bit os/boinc
Stats update! :)
Check out to see if meshmar kept his lead or if vaughan managed to jump ahead. I know the answer already but I won't say. :icon_razz:
This weekend I have to optimize the stats process somewhat. It is taking nearly 2 hours from start to end. I currently have data on over 35K Workunits from everyone alltogether, and growing several thousands every day. And we're still halfway on the contest yet. :icon_mrgreen:
Over 10 hours total without power can make a big difference:sad5:
Maybe I can stay on long enough to slip back by.
I don't dare go near my race computer. The air conditioner is blowing cool air on to it to help keep the temps steady at 53C per core. Ambient is 31C in the room today. Glad the Zalman 9700LED is doing its job nicely. :icon_wink:
wow, now we got a RACE!!! you cant get much closer than that !!
It's a late start, but count me in. User ID= 11907, CPU ID= 41298. I'm doing PSP sieving.
Stats update! :)
Vaughan is trying to run away but meshmar is going strong in spite of the difficulties. One can see how the crunch time dropped for meshmar lately, he used to be on 99%.
Jim, you're curious to see how your rig performs? I'll add you right away! You'll show up on the next batch of stats. I can't tell you that you have a chance to win with a late start like this, but I can tell you that you'll probably have fun! :)
And hey... I'm not placed last anymore! :icon_mrgreen: Finally my TPS workunits batch finished and I'm on PSP Sieve with almost everyone else!
Bender, don't you wanna do PSP Sieve with us as well? :icon_razz:
I think I have a very slight edge that will let me slowly catch up. We'll have to wait and see if it's enough.
Jim, you're on the stats now. :)
Yeah, I thought I might start by doing someone a favor by pushing them out of last place! :icon_wink: Actually I began setting up for the Winter Solstice Challenge of PrimeGrid's Challenge Series: 17 Dec 2008 12:04 UTC – 21 Dec 2008 12:04 UTC. (Maybe that's why others here are focusing on PSP Sieve.) Then I saw this race, and figured, why not see how my Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core does here, as least for speed, even though there's no chance of catching up. It'll be fun anyway! :icon_lol: Oh -- and thanks, NeoGen, for adding me to the stats.
:icon_santa:
For best performance on PSP Sieve we found out that a 64bit OS makes all the difference. Nobody with a 32bit OS has reached 30 credits/hour, while the guys with 64bit OS'es (either Windows or Linux) can make it over 60 and sometimes even over 70 credits per hour.
The Winter Solstice challenge starts in 3 days, you still have time to install a 64bit OS there. :)
And by the way... I guess we're all participating on the challenge this time. No one needs to sign up for it, just crunch PSP Sieve, right? That's what we're doing already. :)
Meshmar, your Average Credit per hour is already higher than vaughan's but those storms over there seem to not have an end. Vaughan's gaining a lead again, and Jason is right behind you.
I just know you're going to ask Santa for a UPS this christmas. :icon_lol: :icon_santa:
PPS Seive is 64bit only, and by request only.
Danish, you quoted Meshmar, but he was saying PSP, not PPS. :icon_wink:
We can build a ups as big as you like. Mine will run 10 computers for over an hour :)
Not that we don't have enough stats to keep watching, but it appears Vaughan could be knocking on the 1,000,000 mark by the time the race ends. :wav:
Maybe we need to push him a little harder to insure he makes it! :icon_wink: Go Vaughan GO!
Brand new stats online! :)
Amazingly the 1K gap between the top 3 fellows maintains.
Liuqyn and txt.file seem to be on a race between themselves, Liuqyn having the advantage so far. Danish Dynamite and Nflight are racing side by side with a difference of very little credits, with BlackAdder not too far behind in the chase. And last but not least is shotgunner ramping up the credits fast, me and Bender10 close to each other (but I'm running PSP Sieve now!) and Jim, who had a late start in the race, but is running with us for the Primegrid Challenge in a couple of days.
I think that sums up the whole lot :)
And after much struggle against mother nature, and the local power company, meshmar gets the lead again, for as little as 18 credits yet. :)
Day after day the average credit per hour record has been broken, and it now sits at 72.94 credits, also by meshmar. A single dual-core machine is doing that fellows. That means around 1750 credits per day, on a single machine. We need more of those! :)
