my shortest units were 18 mins @ 3.5 (unoptimized). i pansied out after the contest and took it down to 2.94, used an optimized client, and got 35-36 mins per (short) unit with hyperthreading on! :O

Most of my WU's on the quad race were in the 11-12 minute range running the optimized intel client. There were at least 5 different optimized clients code versions I bench-marked before I settled on the one I was going to run for the race. I did this the day before the race started. The improvement over stock code was at least 30% on my system. I got all the info from reading the project messaging boards about the optimized clients.
Like I said in earlier posts, I lost 1.5 days worth of cached results with a disk failure, probably in the range of 5000-5500k points or about 500 results, so I basically started over again Monday night of race week around 11pm EST.
My OC by itself was only allowing me to gain 10-15% per day to catchup. I didn't think I was going to catchup until late in the week.
Text.file was very correct when he said that you needed to run the optimized client. I was hoping that you or Jason didnt catch on to this, because if you did, I would'nt have had a chance to catchup, I was to far behind. did you notice how quiet I was on this topic during the race? :icon_wink: So toward the end of the race I was really watching everyone's outputs.
This last race was a real nail bitter for me. If I had had my hard drive crash a little later than when it happend, I probably would have lost, as I was intending to store all my cached results until I exhaused my supply(hundreds more were available for me to crunch at the time of the crash), so that I could hide my results from everyone.
It was definatley fun competition and interesting. We should do this again soon. I think we can come up with some more prizes to fuel our efforts between us all.:)
