Hi Dave

Oh. Hey you are right. I should have made it a pst as well.
It was going ok, but I have run into difficulties getting the CMS back up. When I put the last bit back in, it kills the site.
There is a database id mismatch that kills the site.
It's getting to the frustration point where I might have to roll it all back from back up and do it again.
We are all waiting in anxiety... is Santa Dave bringing us a brand new main page this Xmas? :icon_mrgreen:
It's spreading: FreeDC has lost it's forum (and the WCG badges! And WCG subprojects don't update within FreeDC either, at least not for me and countless others :-() at the moment....
Geez... some hackers somewhere must have a problem with Distributed Computing in general... :cussing:
Wonder if other teams got affected too
FreeDC forum still down, WCG badges do update now, but subproject scores still don't (for me, otherwise my MCM, OET and Zika scores would be much higher).
I located what appear to be a number of injections in the database by scanning the database backup files, which proved tedious due to the size of the files.
Removing these in a way that does not break the forum is proving to be almost impossible due to the way that vB stores the information and the way the backup files are exported.
ITMT, due to the same vB data storage method I have not yet found the solution to restoring the last part of the CMS plugin.
The problem with the CMS (ver 4.2.2) is it is out of sync with the rest of the forum (ver 4.2.3) so ir could be the last upgrade was done with the "Forum only' pack and not the 'Suite' pack
So it is not possible for me to fix without downgrading and then re-upgrading the software with the original install files - which I don't have.
This is distressing because the last full backup I have of the forum and database is 21 Nov 2016 and there are a couple of posts after that that I'd prefer not to lose.
But if I can't figure out a way that is what we will have to do - roll back the forum to 21 Nov 2016.
I'll have to bite one of the bullets in front of me soon.
EDIT - FreeDC site is up but it looks like the base-path changed so the Forum link on the stats site is pointing at the wrong URL. Needs to be fixed to "http://www.free-dc.org/forum.php" instead of "http://www.free-dc.org/forum/forum.php"
PS - I just checked up on FreeDC forum and it is still being post-spammed by a bot.
PPS - I just perma-banned the spammer on FreeDC. I quarantined the spam.
Good work Dave, your efforts are greatly appreciated both here at AMD Users and also at Free-DC.
These serial spam bots are pests.
The Scottish Boinc Team seems unaffected, all is well there. They're not running VBulletin though, but phpBB.
Planet3DNow! and Seti.Germany both run VBulletin like we and FreeDC, but are unaffected it seems.
I second Vaughan here! Amazing work Dave! :icon_thumright: I wish there was anything we could do to help.
If you need a helper I'm pretty good at following instructions to the letter and performing repetitive tasks with precision. :)
I can't tell what's wrong at Free-DC as I don't frequent it very much, but I remember it used to have a main page just like us and now if you try the main www.free-dc.org it will go straight to the forums Activity Stream page. Are they having the same front page issue we are too? Or have they not had that main page for a while and I just didn't notice?
EDIT: forgot to add... I think no one mentioned yet but our Wiki is down too since the beginning of the maintenance. I'm guessing you are working on it too Dave?
Dave... I'm not sure if this is related, but I thought it was very odd...

If you notice my attached image it shows Jasons last post in a split screen, IE 11 on top half, Edge on bottom half. The bottom half has an anti-virus warning on the WCG signature image. Internet Explorer 11 shows ok, but Windows 10's Edge browser has a sort of anti-virus warning from Avast that is actually embedded in the image, but is only visible on Microsoft's new Edge browser.
I don't have Avast installed on my system, and the message is not even in English so it should not be from my system, so I can't figure out what's going on, is this something on WCG's side?
EDIT: I isolated the image sig link to http://wcgsig.com/108042.gif
And opening it on IE and MS Edge shows differently, just like above.... very strange.
EDIT 2: Google translating the message says "your copy of Avast expire in 12 days - choose your protection". I double checked once more and my laptop does not have any traces of Avast installed that I can find. I don't have any extensions installed in Edge either.
I would not be surprised when the message leads you to a scam 'Avast' page.
Can we get a button 'share on facebook' on these pages, and can relevant content of facebook also be mentioned here?
I don't have facebook myself but I used to have a link to our group page but I can't find it anymore. What's the link to our facebook page?
Any updates on the site maintenance Dave? :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

Apologies. I have been very under the weather for several weeks. Still recovering.
I think I isolated the way to fix the the CMS, but I held off for fear of making mistakes through the fog of flu and doing damage instead of fixing.
I really need my test server, restore a copy of the forum and test the solution before doing it on the forum-live.
My test server PSU went phut! again a few weeks ago during the storms over the holidays. I don't have a spare PSU at the moment.
Through some DR planning, I do have a standby box for the test server.
I'll pull them apart in the next few days, swap the primary drive over and see if I can get a test server back online.
Better safe than sorry
Priorities my friend, take care of that flu first, make sure you're fully recovered, and only then look into the forum issue. We will check back in with you sometime later hopefully when you're feeling good again.
I'm stubborn and never take flu vaccine myself so I've got a few good ones too over the years, I know how it feels. So far I've dodged it this year (knock on wood!) but it's still early in the winter here. :)
Just when I passed the 250 million credits mark for the FreeDC Campaign at BU: 'New' problems at FreeDC to take care of
Friday January 27th 2017.
One of the SSD drives has failed completely and another is showing errors. I need to pull these drives, replace and rebuild the stats. Going to be a while.
Update 3:30EST : Ordered 2xSamsung 850EVO 250Gb SSD's for overnight delivery.
I'd say order six of those buggers and make a RAID-6 array
(can already be done with four, but performance increases with the number of drives.
In case there is no RAID-6 controller make it at least RAID 5).
Even RAID 6 isn't the holy grail though
I just saw that error too :(
Even if using only 2, I would buy a few more to have spares on hand. That would make the replacement and rebuilding much quicker.
I feel sorry for bok as he has had so many problems with the hard drives on his stats computer(s). They seem to be a really weak link. I'll send him some $s for repairs.
EDIT: Done I sent USD100
If he had a running tally of parts he needs, like an Amazon registry list or similar, I'd send him a drive or something.
I also wonder if he can do a cost/benefit analysis of his setup and see if it would still be worth it to keep maintaining his stats servers locally or just move his databases and code to the cloud. :)
Hey Dave, I see you did something behind the scenes. The Wiki site is now online again. :icon_mrgreen:
Stats are up too, but Docking is still pulling its data from the old -no longer active- url, as Keith found out.
His actual score -AMD User's highest- is twice as high as presented in our own stats! (32 million vs 16 million).
Hey Dave
I saw the other day the forums were temporarily down for maintenance, but it was back up the next day when I checked again. Was that you working on the background?
I see the Wiki is back up, but the main page is still not. Are you rebuilding that one?
Also I think we have a problem with the security certificate on the Wiki page, if you open it in regular http it is saying that the wiki page "connection is not secure". If you open it with https then gives the following:
Quote:
amdusers.com uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is only valid for the following names:
*.asoshared.com, asoshared.com
Error code: SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN
How's the test server doing? Lost a PSU here too, its system just never got up after the umpteenth Windows 10 update.
