geez i just want a 3700+ clawhammer for my 754 board i cant even think that far ahead to quad core lol
Oh my aching FOOT! a 3.2 Ghz FX-76. Oh this is just too much, I want the first one, oh take me take me! Let me be first in line, sign me up! I want it now damn it! Don't make me wait any longer I can't stand it !
I am going to do something to get there attention, here me, over here, please send me one first so I can overcome this horrible situation of not having enough power to get past lunarcom my arch nemisis! Here is a map, follow the dotted line to my house Mr. UPS man, deliver ontime everytime? Right!
Ok Enough with my rant but this is such great news, Big Smile Everyone, Big Smile! :laughing4:
I was saving for a 5200+, but now......:dontknow:
I wanted a Core 2 system but since I waited I think I will give one of these new AMD systems a shot. :D
I looked back at the first dual cores and I think I'll just stick to the dual cores at a reduced price rather than pay a gazillion bucks for a quad right now. I'd rather set up a couple of systems with a $25 case w/psu, $40 HD, $25 DVD, $80 MoBo, and a $300 4800+, than a $500 to $1000 quad chip. Oh and I have a bunch of those $70 1 gig DDR 400 sticks that only work on AMD that newegg was selling so I don't need to put any cash out on that.
I agree with the gatekeeper. Just going to be too pricey, and lots of electricity too. Who knows, maybe we will be able to get a dual or quad cell set up. :)
But one could go broke in a real hurry chasing this technology game trying to keep up.
I agree, only 18 months ago my 754 3400+ was the best thing since sliced bread. Now it's FX6x... it's impossible to have a future-proof system.
and not only that, you can't buy a motherboard looking ahead to putting the next chip on it. How many sockets have changed on the amd stuff this past year? And looks what's coming.
What I would love to see is a dual socket 939 board with a beefed up L1 and L2 that I could drop a couple of 4800+'s in. With the 4800 OC'd there is nothing in the price range that can touch it in Tanpaku. I look back at the work units and see what has run against mine and only the 6600e comes close and he takes longer to run the unit but has a higher benchmark. True I have no idea what else he may be running but the fact is everytime i run against one my cpu time is shorter. Sometimes by as much as 20%. I hear that the 5200 is an OCer's wetdream but I'm just not ready to go to all new boards and mem.
I've gotta admit that my little e6300 is a little beauty! ..it's not far behind your 4800+ ...and once I get a decent cooler on it I'll probably be able to push it up to around 3GHz (it's currently sitting happy at 2086MHz, 2.2Ghz is fine also ( but 2.4 is a little too much for the stock cooler after a while)
I'm about to go nuts with coolers. I ordered a Typhoon II for my 48 and what they sent me will fit your 6300 like glove so here I sit waiting almost 2 more weeks to really kick this thing.
Just had a little tinker with my 6300 it's now at...
3965 Whet
18309 Dhry
@2226MHz
Not bad for a cheap little thing!
Very Nice.
Hey BlackHeath,
I have a 6300 running at:
Measured floating point speed5201.89 million ops/sec Measured integer speed24114.48 million ops/sec
I have a new WC setup to put on this puppy also as soon as I have the time. I see people that are getting around 4ghz with a WC setup. The WC setup I have requires me to take the MB out and put on a cpu plate on the back, hence the reason its not already hooked up lastnight. What a amazing oc capability. I've never seen a cpu so Oc'able before EVER...
My 3400+ is water cooled, so I can push it up about 15-20% before other stuff holds me back :(
Ouch! what's it running at?
Unfortunately my motherboard is a cheapo ECS one which does not have voltage settings so I'm limited and it's still only got a stock cooler. But what I've played with makes me very impressed with this little processor! It seems to pretty much take whatever I throw at it!
If you think Intel and AMD are impressive, look what the japanese come up with in two years of research and building: http://www.channelregister.co.uk/200...2-core_co-pro/
Not bad as long as you have a large supply of liquid nitrogen around to cool it with.
Blackheath,
I still have it running at stock voltage on a Asus p5b deluxe mb. I have plenty of noisy fans in it though, thats why I'm anxious to put the WC on it. yep, its a pretty amazing cpu for the low cost.
I am saying very little except to follow the link:

Oh boy! :blob3:
Yeah well this is not impressive. What is amd smoking with this smoke and mirrors release. This is just a duel socket mb holding 2 dual core cpu's, that is said to be upgradable to a real quad core when they decide to release it sometime next year. If I wanted that today with AMD cpu's, I'd just by a tyan mb that holds duel or quad cpu opterons. If I wanted that today in a Intel cpu, I'd just buy a mb that held 2 duel core Xeons 5130.
