October Race Poll

Well, as explained on this thread:

This is the October Race Poll, in which everyone can cast their votes on their favorite projects, and the winner will be raced on in the last week of October! :)

This isn't your normal poll thread though. We would like each person to vote only once (of course!) and that your vote consisted on a list of 5 projects that you feel that would be best for a race. Now remember that for a race to work right it has to be on a project with no workunits shortage. I won't even go into having or not linux clients and MacOS, but please, workunits are essential guys. :)



p.s. - Please do not edit the posts if you wish to alter your vote later for some reason. Just post again and say that you wish to switch project A with project B from your previous vote. This is just so I don't have to rewind and recount several times the whole thread. Thanks! :icon_wink:

Guys... when you say WCG and don't specify, I am assuming the boinc version.
I do this because WCG is on the verge of moving all it's projects and effort to boinc and is cutting back on the non-boinc side.
If I'm wrong and your votes are not to the boinc version, please tell.

I'm just one guy with one opinion but I was thinking that we should pick a project that could use a collective push to stay ahead or one where we could gain several positions.
Cosmology@Home is the only one I know of where we could use some help so that is my only vote.

I would have included Cosmo, but I can't seem to get work there lately just keeps saying "There was work but it was committed to other platforms", so I gave up.

1. BOINC: SHA-1 Collision (because we can get back in the top 10 teams quite easily if we push on this project)

2. non-boinc: Riesel Sieve LLR (because we can overtake the next team ahead of us {Finland} with some hard work. Also, Finland's main point earner is psnow aka Lumiukko at BOINC Riesel Sieve where he/she is working hard to keep world #2 spot. I don't think he has more than two quad Xeon 5335 servers so we can keep him/her occupied :icon_twisted: )

3. BOINC: BURP (as they are releasing a new client soon)

4. non-boinc: eOn (because it exists :icon_rolleyes: )

5. BOINC: PrimeGrid (because it is a well run project with various optional sub-projects (like Cullen and Woodall primes)

5. BOINC: RieselSieve (because it is my favourite project, with on-the-ball admins and I donated money towards the RAM in their server so it must be good. :icon_wink: )

Mid-week arrived, and with it half the deadline too.
Seems like there's a few noticeable preferences, WCG, Cosmo and Rosetta. WCG is taking a short lead for now, but let's see how it goes until the end.

I suppose these all get equal votes. It would be nice (in the future), I think, to give more weight to the top of each voter's list. Or perhaps a simpler method is that everyone gets 5 votes: they can cast 5 votes for one project, 1 vote each for 5 projects, or 3 votes for one project and 2 for another, etc.

Should this be discussed in a separate thread?
