Terry, I think you are on the right track there. I would only chop off some of the cost from the SSD by switching it to a regular cheap HDD (SSD is awesome but gives no more credits for pure...
Vaughan... your crunching Armada is showing to public on this project, you usually don't have it set to show. Is it on purpose or you forgot to check the box to hide computers?
And Congrats to...
Oh, I didn't mean that. I meant over the years I've kept a copy of it, as computers came and gone, and 16 years later and on my most recent machine with Windows 7 Final Reality still runs.
I still have Final Reality on my computer, and guess what? 16 years later and it still runs on Windows 7! :icon_mrgreen:
Lesson to be learned: don't fix what ain't broken! :icon_lol:
It's a matter of priorities... Shed?... or Cruncher? Hmmm.... :icon_lol:

That is awesome Terry! :)
I did that too once to my old GeForce 9800 but I only got about 6 or 7 degrees less. What I really wanted was to dust off and clean up its incredibly clogged up fan but I...

They must have dived into the assembly code of the application and removed all the WAIT instructions that compilers introduce. :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

But what is going to be the main purpose of the machine? If it's a sole crunching machine I would trade in the SSD and get a...
Plonk, have you heard about the ASIC chips from Butterfly Labs and Avalon? Those things blow GPUs out of the water these days. A coworker of mine is into Bitcoin and Litecoin and told me about those,...
Found it odd that this user had 3 posts with text that had very little to do with the content of the threads he posted on. But his signature had 2 very distinct links to a website of buying/selling...
That is persistence and dedication to a project hands down guys, my humble congrats to you! :)
I hope to someday see part 2 of this story, when you guys tackle and finish HCC version 2. (if it...
Dirk, that goodie plus a good noise-cancelling headset and no one will sneak up on him on games for sure.
Terry, if he is in campus I hope you can give him a 4G net adapter to go along. The network...
The latest additions to AMD's FX series of CPUs are essentially faster and hungrier versions of the FX-4300 and FX-6300 processors.
AMD has refreshed its lineup of FX processors with the launch of...
Wow... the OS seems to make a staggering difference in results... it almost doubles!
Tried out BOINC and after reconfiguring and re-detecting, here's what I got
These are the largest values I've ever seen for my CPU, but how well do they fare against others?
A few interesting bits and pieces from the Release Notes for Windows
Dirk, I did have a spare Noctua 140mm fan at home! And I found it still on the Noctua box last night! :icon_mrgreen:
Last year I got 2 Noctua HSFs, one for my working computer and another one for a...
That's a nice looking GPU with 2 big fans on it. :)
Tonight I decided to crank it up some more, so I upped the CPU to 4GHz... at first it wasn't taking it and crashing Prime95, so I went into the...
I spent the better part of last night tweaking and OCing... managed to get stable 3.8GHz (out of 3.3 stock) at acceptable temperatures around 55C under full load. This morning before leaving to work...
My main computer was down last night under scheduled heart surgery, it was a long and intensive procedure.... at times I almost thought I was losing the patient...
