We are seeking PRPClient testers...specifically, those with multicore computers. A multicore installation has been created for Linux and Windows machines. Our goal was to create an easy...
The key to an effective prime search is having a good sieve file. For the past several months, our primary focus has been on getting the PPS Sieve deep enough to start LLRing. While we have made...
PrimeGrid’s Challenge series continues with the Prime Time Challenge (14-16 November 2008). It's high time we initiated the new server and what better way to do it than with a Challenge. Also,...
We'd like to do a PUSH in PPS LLR to get it up to n=346,000 which is Top 5000 level in Chris Caldwell's The Largest Known Primes Database!
However, the sieve is still more important right now. We...
Good progress has been made towards the top 3 priorities. A summary is below:
1. Proth Sieve (p=106T) - goal, to reach a sieve depth of 500T initially and 850T long term
2. 321 Sieve (p=700T)...
The Prime Sierpinski Problem Sieve has entered into the 10P range. This was our "soft" goal for PrimeGrid's one year anniversary (13 October 2008). We reached it two weeks ahead of time....
Oops, I didn't realize that the name was different.
Proth Sieve = PPS Sieve (Proth Prime Search Sieve)
Also note:
This project has a very large sieve file 270MB (80MB compressed - BOINC does...
Sorry about that. Hopefully I can answer any questions you have here.
10 cores, that's GREAT! However, you might want to see the following:
321 Prime Search (BOINC) - primality effort (LLR)...
With less than 5 days remaining in the "Back to the Future Challenge", AMD Users is ranked 32nd. Top Teams
The top 40 Teams will earn Challenge Points. Best of Luck! :)
As PrimeGrid continues to add projects, more pressure is placed on the sieving aspect to keep up with growth. Therefore, PrimeGrid is in a continuous need of sievers...both manual and BOINC.

It's been a while since any news has been posted about PrimeGrid so I thought I'd provide an update.
The prime projects at PrimeGrid continue to grow. Currently the following are offered:

PrimeGrid has released a 64 bit Linux version for the Prime Sierpinski Project sieve application.
64 bit sr2sieve version is ~1.5X as efficient as 32 bit version; therefore, ~1.5X the credit!

PrimeGrid has released a 64 bit Linux version of the Cullen/Woodall sieve application. For more information, see the forum thread.
64 bit gcwsieve version is ~2X as efficient as 32 bit version;...
FYI...in today's major prime searches, "generally" you start off with a data set, seive factors out of it until it takes longer to sieve than to primality test, then you primality test.
That's the...
On 21 Dec 2007, 10:09:30 UTC, PrimeGrid’s Woodall Prime Search found the 33rd and largest known to date Woodall prime: 3752948*2^3752948-1

Win 32 & 64 only so far.
An attempt is being made to port the manual sieve client, gcwsieve, to 64 bit Windows. If anyone can help, please see this post:

Thanks for the update!
So, no host to host comparison. :( Too bad...what a tool that would be! For those that are credit hungry, they could determine the best project per host, and set their machines accordingly.

Yes, this is what I wanted...thanks AMDave. I've seen another chart as well but this one will do.
PoorBoy: From what I can gather with this chart, it actually compares individual hosts that are...
At one time there existed a chart comparing all the BOINC projects and the credit they give (high, medium, low). However, I failed to find it today.
Would someone point me in the right direction?...
As of this post, Cullen Prime Search is at n=1000000 with WU's taking around 50 minutes to complete. When n>1354828, any new prime found will be a record. Good Luck!
