CRAY - Jaguar online and started testing

The CRAY - Jaguar is now online and they have started the first testing phase.

I heard about the specs for this a while ago, so it caught my attention when it
came up in the Yahoo! News RSS feed.
    http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor.../supercomputer

That's the equivalent of just over 416 high end PCs per box !

    Droool.

    I'll have 1 to go, please :!:

    What ? Insufficient credit ?

    ...like touring the Boat Show...
If you have to ask then you probably can't afford it.

Here's the data sheet for the X1E cabinets:

Would you rather have that machine or 50,000 high end personal computers... There's a this or that question....

I suppose there's an Network Management aspect.
For your job I expect the 50,000 PCs would mean a long term future.
Although I'd like to hear from DMMc about his point of view...I tip him as probably going the 120 identical cabinets. ;)

    From my point of view:
    I'd go the 416 in a cabinet
I recon I could fit 1 cabinet in my house (allowing for the air-con - don't even want to calculate the power bill).
There's no way I could fit 416 PCs in my house and still be able to open the beer-fridge.
