    May 2015 competitions

April has gone -again-, May has arrived -as usual-. What to do besides Seti.Germany's BOINC Pentathlon, still only BOINC challenge that has a mythical 5-core AMD CPU as namesake?

May 01 to May 08 - Crunch into May - PrimeCrunch
Team BOINC@Frankfurt does a PrimeGrid challenge for teams

    May 18 to May 25 - Enigma@Home challenge
An Enigma@Home challenge from our Ukrainian friends form Colombia. Or was it the other way around? This project already runs good on a Raspberry Pi!
Alan Turing must be getting stark raving mad in hardware heaven, seeing how little hardware is needed nowadays compared to what he achieved building from scratch -literally.
Go and see the movie 'The Imitation Game' to see what I mean.

Good to see some more activity this month, and the Pentathlon again!
I hope to blazes the first GPU event is either Milkyway or PrimeGrid because those overlaps are a killer.
BTW if you haven't read Jeeper's announcement, you should give it at least a cursory visual scan. His written prose improves every year.

Did we decide what projects to submit? Or is it too late and all decided?
Sorry I've been distracted from this.

Tuning the cores for another WCG badge color change -CEP2 into emerald.
At the rate things are going my UGM might reach emerald too...and my OET might get silver. 39 members active here. Thanks to Jason/Ramjet we've climbed four positions, we're at #16 now! And every chance to climb a further two positions...

We sure could have used Chris Icide -our team#1-, trying to breach the 5 million credits mark in malariacontrol.net at the Pentathlon event. Luckily Meshmar -our team #2- has stepped up his effort. vaughan -our present team #3- has already reached his goal for Malariacontrol, scoring 1 million credits, so I hope he doesn't mind when I pass him...6 members were active here.
We finished 24th after having started as 23rd.

Is Steve Lux all set for the third event (Einstein@Home)? Yes he is, and so are B Johansson, cov_route and chris skull! In all we have 19 members active here now.
Despite our efforts we slipped from 22nd to 23rd here.

vaughan, Z and me will take care of the 4th event (Yoyo@Home), I guess.
Liuqyn G.L.I.S. and DMMc are not active anymore, it seems. In all we have seven active members active here, amongst them a very active AMDave, falling in for Z. We climbed form 18th to 15th here -only to be pushed back to 16th by team AnandTech when they found their turbo- and with added power (Z? Chris? Gamer007?) should be able to climb even more...unless [H]ard|OCP manages to overtake us.

Yep, I'll miss malaria as don't need more points in that. After Denis reaches 1M I'll switch some CPUs to WCG and Yoyo if that's active.

I'm skipping Einstein (mostly) as I do not have the right GPUs at the moment.
It is hard enough to run WCG, Malariacontrol and Yoyo all three at 100%...
