Thread: Replacing Processor...

  1. #11
no problem keeping it cool, like i say, i changed nothing else.
been like this for what, 2 years now? well at least a year.

memory of 400 mhz may not be a must, depending on motherboard. (bios)

just check the cache size for barton verification.

    i don't see it as overclcock'ed, more like no longer under-clocked 3200+.

Hmm ok thanks for that, I didn't know that I should have PC3200 RAM, great a whole gig of PC2700 that I just bought becomes almost useless :P

    PC2700 is 166mhz, your 3200 runs 200mhz fsb....
Meckano has a point though, depending on your board,if you have dividers in the bios you may be able to run the CPU at 200fsb and keep the ram at 166.
Not the best way to go though

Another option you could try if you dont have the divider, is to run that 3200 at 166x12,12.5,13 and keep your pc2700....
Again given your bios options it may or may not be possible. You'd be slower than the 3200, but faster than the stocker 2500.
