As many things slow down a bit between christmas and new years day, I thought it might be a good idea to recommend to you a browser-based game dealing with RNA. In fact, it is more than a game. It is a citizen science gamification approach to learn about and to help design RNA molecules. Even more, the RNA you design could actually be synthesized in the lab to test its real-life properties. The game is called EteRNA and, if you are interested, you should just register at this URL and start playing: http://www.eternagame.org/web/

If you like, initilly check out this approx. 3 minutes video and/or read this brief overview.

I actually spent the past three days playing in a row and if you like, you may also discuss this game in this thread over at our Rechenkraft.net forum.

Do not hesitate to try it out - even if you do not have the slightest idea of what RNA actually is. You will understand things quickly once you walk through their tutorial. Promised.

For the future experts: You will soon figure out that loops may pose a problem. Professional overview is found here:

    Internal loops: http://rna.bgsu.edu/rna3dhub/motifs/release/il/current
    Hairpin loops: http://rna.bgsu.edu/rna3dhub/motifs/release/hl/current

    Have fun!!!
    Michael.

Pay day today at RNA world. Nflight, BobCat13 and me got rewarded with points.
BobCat got the most credits (10,298), Nflight passed a milestone (20,000) and I moved up a place in the team rankings at the cost of Trent, we switched the #8 and #9 positions.

After one of my work units dating all the way back to June of last year was finally converted to real points values. I had 3 WU's that were converted. Yes the points values were less then I was expecting. I had calculated that I should have received nearly 14,000 in pts but alas I got quite a bit less

You may still have a WU left that needs to be turned into credits, I hope for you...

Edit: I've just looked it up, no hope left (and no cash or jobs either )
