    GPU not showing on projects

Hi guys. I have a Radeon R9 390 series in my main pc but on all the project ''computer list'' pages it does not show it and just has --- instead.

See this example on Radioactive@home. It is every project I have looked at. Does anyone know why it is not recognised by the projects?

Are you using the Microsoft drivers? You should download the AMD drivers -for the other card too, if you're not using Radeon drivers there already.

I second that... if you don't use the full AMD drivers features will be missing like OpenCL for one. And the basic microsoft drivers are usually very generic and don't even give out a model but just a series... like "Radeon 300 series" or something like that.

Thanks for the advice but that is not it. I have always used the correct drivers for my cards, in fact I have only just installed the latest Crimson package a couple of days ago on 24th April.

here is my Radeon settings manager info, perhaps you may spot something untoward on here? :

That -the Radeon settings manager info- looks good, better post the first 15-20 lines of the BOINC manager log...Why doesn't BOINC make use of the card? The information is in the log.
You want a line like this showing up:
    OpenCL: AMD/ATI GPU 0: AMD Radeon (TM) R9 390 Series (driver version 1800.5 (VM), device version OpenCL 2.0 AMD-APP (1800.5), 8192MB, 8192MB available, 3802 GFLOPS peak)

You are sure that your data directory is D:\ ?

Mine is C:\ProgramData\BOINC (that is where BOINC, the projects and the active processes are installed by default. It is a 'hidden' directory). Then again, you are offered during the install to give a different directory so it may very well be so.
This is the log of my ancient Q8200 and its dito HD 4770:

    4-5-2017 00:56:38 | | Starting BOINC client version 7.6.9 for windows_x86_64

Could you try and install the OpenCL SDK kit from AMD? http://developer.amd.com/amd-license-agreement-appsdk/. This won't work for my HD 4770 as it can nor support OpenCL past 1.1, but yours must be at least able to support OpenCL 1.2, 2.0 even! The SDK kit seems needed here to be able to crunch for you.

And the best for last: Warning: On Windows do not install BOINC in Protected Access Execution (PAE) mode aka service mode (6.4.5 - 7.0.28) or Service Install mode (7.0.64 and above). If you do, BOINC will not be able to detect or use your GPU.

Its ok, I have found the problem it is my root directory. I now have :

    04/05/2017 00:34:45 | | cc_config.xml not found - using defaults
    04/05/2017 00:34:45 | | Starting BOINC client version 7.6.33 for windows_x86_64
    04/05/2017 00:34:45 | | log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task
    04/05/2017 00:34:45 | | Libraries: libcurl/7.47.1 OpenSSL/1.0.2g zlib/1.2.8
    04/05/2017 00:34:45 | | Data directory: D:\BOINC
    04/05/2017 00:34:45 | | Running under account eupho
    04/05/2017 00:34:46 | | OpenCL: AMD/ATI GPU 0: AMD Radeon (TM) R9 390 Series (driver version 2348.3, device version OpenCL 2.0 AMD-APP (2348.3), 8192MB, 8192MB available, 5171 GFLOPS peak)
    04/05/2017 00:34:46 | | Creating new client state file

It still says GPU 0 but it is at least recognised it. Hopefully in time for the pentathlon maybe?

Aha it seems we were both on the same path lol. Thank you. I did install the SDK kit previously but had not spotted my directory issues. I may try it again. Thanks for the help. Time for bed. Work in 5 hrs.

    Typically computerese: beginning to count with 0. Notice that your 8-core FX-8350 will have cores 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.
I have a Linux Mint box with a A8-3870K and two HD 6670 cards and the three GPUs of it are recognized as 0, 1 and 2.
