Trying to update my main system in order to let it crunch Seti@Home GPU WUs by replacing the HD 4770 (that, due to the discontinued support for OpenCL 1.1 in Win 10, only could crunch the Moo! Wrapper)
by my HD 7790 resulted in a crashed harddisk and/or mobo -I do hope the latter, as the 1TB drive contained all my life's work so to speak...

I already had plans to replace the Socket 775 mobo and it's C2Q8200 with either an Athlon A4-5000 or a Pentium J3710 CPU onboard system.

Oh dear, it's frustrating when your hardware doesn't want to play nicely. I hope you have not lost your files etc. My R9 is constantly overheating (assumption) and causing my pc to crash but I have a massive floor fan on it atm so as to complete the WOW challenge and apart from the other night when the update seemed to cause it to fail, it is hanging on in there. My other pc with the HD6670 in runs the V8 8.82 GPU wu's in about 1hr 40 although I have some V8 8.00 and V8 8.08 that are taking about 10 to 11 hrs each.

Something good came out of this hardware failure after all: after establishing that it was the Asrock Socket 775 mobo that couldn't stand torturing 24/7/365 anymore,
I placed the PSU in a case that holds my reserve FM2 board (a MSI FM2-A55M-P33), stuck my A10-5700 in it and...it ran!
So I can revive my FM2 system, that till my holiday ran on a temporary FM1 A6-3500 triple core in an ASUS mobo that I got solely as packaging for another CPU (an A8-3850).

Tomorrow I'll try the PSU in my main FM2 board (an ASUS F2A85-V Pro). If it runs there as well, I'll go hunting for a A10-6700, A10-6790K or A10-6800K.

In the meantime I will try to revive the HDD of the now written-off Intel system with the help of my A8-3850 and the mobo that I go when I bought that CPU/APU.

With a bit of luck I have all running again before the Wow! event ends...
And speaking of that challenge: We're about to break the 3,000,000 credit barrier!

I lost a GTX1070 from the Seti-WOW event yesterday - damn things cost $750 to replace. It was running OK then suddenly stopped. I pulled the GPU out and checked the fan was able to spin freely, OK. I dusted everything off and re-seated the GPU. Still dead. I changed the PCI-e 8 way power lead from the 850W power supply, still dead. So I don't know what to do now. Maybe try it in another computer? Try another GPU in the same mobo slot?

    Any ideas?

We are slowly gaining on Rank # 17, they have slowed a bit and Cricket has basically exploded. His numbers are seriously rushing upwards. We are just 400K from that position... Keep plugging folks we can make it in just 3 days crunching.

The gap has shrunken to a mere 40k credits...28k credits...

Another Crash, this time I had an error page from AMD to say the gpu had overheated despite having an external fan also on the pc? Don't know how long it had been like that for.

We can only hope these crashes occur with other teams too....
Meanwhile I've fired up my A10-5700 and set it to crunch Seti exclusively. It did not completely worked as planned: running Lubuntu 16.04 the CPU crunches Seti@Home, while the GPU will only crunch Seti@Home Beta. The gap with [H]ard|OCP is now a healthy 60k on our side: we're 17th, they're 18th.
