    TR4 Motherboards

The platform of choice for 'heavy' AMD crunchers at this moment is the Ryzen Threadripper on Socket TR4.
What is the offering? What mobo's offers the best value for money? What to look out for?

We start with Asrock, in the next posts in this thread we will see ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI. No TR4 board yet from Biostar, AFAIK.

Asrock has two boards to offer, one aimed at gamers and a less RGB-based board, the X399 Taichi that gets my recommendation.

N.B. for both: If the U2 Connector is plugged in, the M2_1 connector will be disabled!

    1. The PCIE_X8/x4_4 slot shares bandwidth with U.2. In 4-Way configuration, if the PCIE_X8/x4_4 is used in x8 mode, U.2 port will be disabled.
    2. ROG DIMM.2 Card (ROG Zenith) supports 2 x M.2 SSDs (the strange 9th DIMM slot).
    3. U.2 Shares bandwidth with the PCIE_X8/x4_4 slot.
    4. Wi-Fi 802.11ad(WiGig) (ROG Zenith) is only available in certified countries.

    Gigabyte goodies

The Designare is so new, the stores don't have it yet. That leaves the rather garishly illuminated Aorus Gaming 7. No, I'm not a RGB fan. It's a crunching farm, not Coney Island.

So the Asrock Fatal1ty X399 Professional Gaming with its 10 Gbit LAN is the pick of the bunch?

I love your Humor Dirk = " It's a crunching farm, not Coney Island."

Challenge me, or correct me, but don't ask me to die quietly.

Not in my eyes, where does a cruncher need 10 GBit LAN for? I still have to present the MSI offering (there's no Titanium board yet), but the Gigabyte Designare and the Asrock Taichi look like my favorites here.
