anyone tried running an APU or low end GPU on BOINC projects recently?

i've trying to run my 2400G on Seti and Einstein (i queued up Milkyway, but it didn't download anything), and it appears that they're not really utilizing the GPU well... can't tell if this is "working as intended" or if i'm setting it up wrong or if it's underpowered for these applications...

GPU-Z is showing 0-2% GPU use (Win10's GPU column in Task Manager mirrors this), tho the GPU portion of the APU is spending 60-70% of the time at 1000-1100MHz (the rest at like 300 or lower).

anyone have any experience with low end GPUs or better yet APUs, especially recently? need halp... or to be told it can't be done...

edit: kill-a-watt was showing bouncing between 96 and 105 watts with Seti and Einstein (up from 87-89). i'm assuming i should trust GPUZ *and* Task Manager showing under 1% GPU usage and chalk up the increased power consumption just being the GPU portion of the chip running at a higher clockspeed?

There's not much I can see from up here, I'm afraid.
Running Windows or Linux? Do you have another GPU in the system too? I use HD 6670s with my FM1 APUs and they perform just a little better than the APU GPU of my A8-3870K, A8-3850 and A8-3820.
The GPU part of my A10-5700 FM2 APU performs even better.

Windows, no other GPU. it's got 704 shader units on its own, so i thought i'd try to use it if i could

hrm, maybe it's doing work and just not registering on GPU-Z nor windows? i ran a MW@H unit on my 7790... took 325 seconds, definitely used 100% GPU (temps went up 40C)

About the same difference between a FM1 APU and a HD 6670:

Device 'Bonaire' (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.:0x1002) (CL_DEVICE_TYPE_GPU)
Board: AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series
    Driver version: 1642.5 (VM)
    Version: OpenCL 1.2 AMD-APP (1642.5)
    Compute capability: 0.0

Try to update to the latest AMD drivers, if possible -that MicroShit driver stuff does nothing for you....

yeah, it's on latest. i think only one driver has come out for it so far (maybe 2)

Windows has this nasty habit of replacing valid AMD drivers with those of their own

nope, currently active drivers are the same drivers i installed

does GPU-Z show activity on your APUs' GPUs when GPU BOINC apps are running?

mostly at 100% (but frequent drops to 0-40% too)

    aha, semi-solved! https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/com..._task_manager/

HWInfo was pretty interesting in what it could show...! (see screenshot) still, would be nice for it to show up in Task Manager...
