Another option is the 'bigger is better' approach. If you are into custom open loop coolers, why settle for a 3x 120mm radiator, when there are 9x 120mm radiators?

a car radiator and electric fan route may be cheaper and could possibly be turned into an outdoor evaportive cooler?

Sounds like a sound idea. I found 2nd hand truck radiators for about 20 Euro's...
