    uFluid uses smaller WU

    Hi

To all as have run uFluid but paused it because the lack of checkpoints.

Saturday 28th uFluid introduse a WU who takes from 45 min to 2,5 tim as a compromiss for the lack of checkpoints as seems to be difficult to implement in the near future.

A WU who takes 1.5 hours is eisier to lose than a work who we have crunch 12 hours if our computers should selvrestart or we ourselve shouted it down of any cause.

    Hej

My first experience of the short running WU´s from uFluid:

First: the latest WU I crunched use 52.561.94 CPU-seconds and claimed 357.75 in credits.

Second: the new WU´s use 6.722.22 CPU-seconds and claimed 46.10 in credits.

From 01.09.35 (Night) – 07.13.03 (Morning) I crunched 3 WU´s and was crunching one more as have takes 1.25 hour until I stopped it for crunching D2OL instead under the day and evening.

As you noticed I got lesser credits but I have not calculated with another. It is logical. 3 works gives 138.30 points.

    Try it please :-k

    Hej

I´m happy to say there seems to be checkpoints in uFluids. I have restarted a WU as I had paused and it started where it stopped. I was not sure if my eyes lurk me, but checking Boinc again and yes I saw right.

Did you close and reopen the boinc manager?
I think that if you just suspend a workunit (keeping boinc open), boinc checks if the application supports suspending, and in case it doesn't it keeps it in memory while suspended. Doesn't really stop it.

No, I have Boinc open but minimised. Perhaps it was therfore. The WU was left in the memory but, if I had close Boinc the WU should begin from start. However, another guy in uFluids have notised the same as me but I don´t know if he had Boinc open.

I will test it and report how it went.

    Hej

NeoGen, I´ve checked the forum of uFluid. Peoples there stated there is no checkpoint. Only if you not close Boinc the WU restart from where it was interrupted.

    Hej

I’ve noticed some of you guys are running uFluid. Mitro for example have downloaded 38 tasks and are right now crunching these. Thank you all who have taken up this project again.

    Well done!

What is your option about the shorter task?

    Hi

uFluid have now workunits who takes 25 minutes but the score is only 4.50 points/task. I have run a lot of them and got credits fast too.

I hadn't even noticed that my name was mentioned. :D

I like short WUs. In case something unexpected happens, I wouldn't have to lose a lot of credit.
