    Cisco cable modem/router IOS upgrade

Hi Guys, Does anyone know how to upgrade/flash the IOS of a Cisco UBR924 Cable modem/router??? I bought this hoping it would help my connection for MJ12 but my cable provider uses DOCSIS 1.1 or higher and this unit has a IOS Version 12.0 and is only Docsis 1.0 compatable.I registered at Cisco but only have guest status so I can not download any IOS images , nor do I have the knowledge of how to do this by reading the manuals which came with the unit. It can't connect to the internet thru the cable so it can't upgrade it self either, any help out there????Thanks....JOE :D

I don't have anything from Cisco, but I went to their site and tried to download the 12.4 IOS. Naturally it said that I couldn't because I wasn't registered.

If you are registered and still can't download, then I guess you should email them or something and ask about it. If you are the owner of one of their products, and you are registered on their site, you are more than entitled to be able to download the update to it.

Yea I saw the end of life notice...I only paid 30 some bucks and it was new...there are some retailers who still sell it but upwards of $500...I think it would still be a great modem /firewall/router (which did work) if I can just get the IOS updated...Thanks. :D

End of Support on Cisco uBR924 Software August 1, 2003

I know Cisco bring out updates for switches/routers all the time and the new updates might not be compatible with old h/w but you never know…

Ive got an old router at work, i will see if i got any support left.

Thanx...as an end user it doesn't seem that I can download any IOS images at all from Cisco, I went by the local computer store and they acted like it was stealing or something to upgrade my modem/router..don't know...maybe I'll put it back on Ebay and sell it since I can't use it as a cable modem
