    TKC Website back up - but no project HDD

    The TKC website has been resurected, interestingly with a post dated 17-Feb-2005 which reads as follows
    2/17/2006
    This morning the OS hard drive in the main TKC web site server failed. Currently the server is completely offline, and will require a complete operating system rebuild before the site is available again.

    The good news is that our database backups account for all but about 15 hours worth of submissions data. It is possible (but not certain) that we will be able to recover all of the data and restore everything to its state as of the time of the crash.

    Unfortunately, the TKC budget is currently empty. Replacing the hard drive in the server will require time and money that are not available. If you would like to help accelerate this process, we gladly appreciate your generous donations.

    Donate here to the TKC Server Hard Drive fund. {see link on their web-page - ed. AMDave}

    In the event that the data is not recoverable, or if we are unable to fund the replacement drive in a timely manner, the TKC service will remain offline until the TKC2.0 beta program starts.

    ...small observation...aren't they going to need a new HDD to start working on the TKC2.0 beta program anyway?

    I'd say a hard drive is always a necessary component... but who knows :roll:

    And so far no news on Marmot... :?

    There is news on Marmot too, but it's not great either

    It appears that the servers were seized by the authorities (Their ISP's servers that is) and now all they have is an old backup of the stats.

    Here's the translated version - NOTE - It makes more sense if you understand that waiters = servers :D
    In English:
    Seized waiters of Razorback!

    By Guillaume Champeau

    With more than one million users, the largest waiter eDonkey/eMule of the world, Razorback, east was gone this morning in the hands of the Belgian federal police force. Two of its administrators remain injoignables per hour when we write these lines. We have only very few information. The whole of the waiters of Razorback were seized this morning towards 10H by the Belgian federal police force. Although Razorback association domiciled in Switzerland, it is in Belgium that the system main part was installed. Razorback did not lodge any illegal contents and even took part very actively in the diffusion of legal contents such as those of our chain of remote loading of software or the free musics of Jamendo. The waiter used for eMule and eDonkey was nevertheless an index of million files exchanged on the networks peer-to-peer, including one great part were illicit. The principal administrator of Razorback had indicated in the past that it was ready with blacklister the files brought back to him by the holders of royalties, but it never had any answer. Finally the whole of the material was seized this morning, indicates a source close to Razorback to us, while two administrators of the waiter remain injoignables at this beginning of afternoon. Razorback tried to reconcile legality and P2P while taking part in many legal projects, by providing the stastic invaluable ones for the cabinets of marketing, and by diffusing paying files protected by DRM, for the account of content providers. But especially, the disappearance of Razorback will not change absolutely anything for the million users eMule, who profit already since from very many months of a network entirely decentralized baptized "Kad". We will inform you as soon as we will have more information. Here... We, as you know it, are hebergés by Gruk.org, cÃ*d Razorback... No the bowl... but count on us to rapidemment find a solution with this new problem of cool.gif lodging EDICT: (22/02/06 - 20h05)

    BAD NEWS the Backup last of the data of the waiter goes up in mid-January, and one does not know at which point it is complete... in light that wants to say only if Gruk does not return, one is likely to lose one crowned package of data (do not ask how much, one knows nothing of it)

    GOOD NEWS - a redirection will be made on the site for ammener the members on the fofo, history to prevent everyone - If Gruk does not return, Loskiller will have average to lodge the Project elsewhere... but not before a good lapse of time (what will give the opportunity to the marmot to hibernate a little tongue.gif) - a "recasting" of TheTurtle will be carried out at the same time, which will amménera a new version for the resumption of the Project COURAGE!!!! We will continue to inform you of the évenements on this Topic. Tallian
