Are you accepting/do you sponsor a SETI team?

I've never been been involved with any team but if you're looking for another member I do have several years worth of analysis to add to your totals.

Thats great. What OS do you use for seti? I see all most everyone here ends up having a favorite project but float from project to project. Seti is one of the few projects I never did and for some reason I could never get motivated. My favorite is folding@home but others have their merits also.

Welcome, David! We are involved in several projects. You can find these projects by click the DC Projects button on the menu on the left.

Sorry to cut this short, I have to get to my next class

    Hello Daphyl,

I've been running SETI for the past few months non-stop - I could do with some help on that project!

    Welcome to the team.

Hello all, I just joined the group...

Ok, I joined. I hope Keith doesn't get mad at me (my wife sure does). I run SETI on four PC's, 24 hours a day. This has caused the electric bill to climb about $100.00 a month (PC's + Air Conditioning). I use SETI QUEUE on one of the machines and send all the results (about 24) in once a day. I run SETI in 256 colors and minimized. I have it set to run always (not as a screen saver). In the way of OS's, I have one Win 98SE, two Win2K boxes and a WinXP machine. If you have more than one PC, SETI Queue will really boost your work unit out-put. I'll be glad to help anyone set it up.
Oh, by the way... our kids are grown and gone so my wife puts up with it to keep my out of the bars at night.

Although I am a member of another SETI@home team, ( I found this site from the BOINC Beta Top teams page) I just thought I'd recommend the use of the command-line version of the SETI@home client, which can be found at: Command-line Client Software from the SETI@home site. Download the file named "i386-winnt-cmdline.exe" current version 3.08. An add-on work unit cashing program like SetiDriver or SetiQueue, which can be found on the Add-on software for the SETI@home client page, will be necessary.

The command-line interface (cli) version is much more efficient at processing work units than the gui version, even when set to run in the background. So, you will see your stats increase much more quickly.

There are many sites to help guide you through the process. One in particular can be found at http://sirwarrior.kicks-ass.org/seti/seti.html.

In case you're curious, my SETI@home stats are at seticruncher@elrado1.com

I agree, the cli version is quicker than the screensaver version. I use SetiQueue too but found it VERY difficult to set-up. Shnal helped me but Daphyl's offer is appreciated. I also use CheckSeti (on the Seti Add-ons page too) & this indicates the progress of each unit - it is run on each individual PC.

I'm not familiar with CheckSeti as I've only used SetiDriver. The Guest post above was me.
