    UK benchmark?

    Hi guys...I downloaded the top download of the benchmark programmes...only to find I wasn't allowed to use it in the UK!
    I don't need anything fancy...just enough to let me see what I'm up against when you fellows start bragging... I meant to say, when you fellows discuss yours! ;)
    So what should I go for?!

    im in england and run and have run 3Dmark for a while. 03 and 04 both work fine for me (i definatley downloded 03 from here).

    The easier thing you can compare is your output/day - In BOINC you can run CPU benchmarks "Commands ---> Run Benchmarks".
    You can compare these fairly easily against anyone else, especially if someone has the same processor.

    I did that....now I have to admit I don't really know what the results tell me...how would I find out? Bear in mind I'm a retired nurse ...not a physicist!

    I do know that I seem to be rising 2 numbers/points every day...started 21...19...now 17....I'm beginning to see Blackheath topple!

    Hi Dee,

    Whetstones measures the number of calculations of a fixed equation a second therefore benchmarking your floating point (calculus) and Dhrystone measures the number of times it runs a simple script in a loop (integer).

    Just so you know my Two AMD Opterons' get...

    25/03/2006 00:57:48||Benchmark results:
    25/03/2006 00:57:48|| Number of CPUs: 2
    25/03/2006 00:57:48|| 2987 double precision MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU
    25/03/2006 00:57:48|| 9035 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU

    But that isn't enough for me to stay near the top for long, you're all closing in on me so I'm going to have to do my last resort of telling my Wife to turn the central heating off so that my computer can stay cool. :oops: ...wish me luck with that one!

    Blackheath...you look worried...rightly so...I'd forgotten you were running two or three machines to my one....I'd also forgotten I have 2 more....heh heh!
    And don't even think of asking your poor wife to turn down the heating until you've bought her the requisite property in a country that doesn't need central heating! :P

    Closed loads of stuff down and got:

    Closed some MORE stuff down:

    Thanks Neogen...that does explain it a bit better to me! I hadn't planned on running more than 1 project...after all, I got this upgrade to stop my machine for falling over when crunching graphics ( I'm an artist now) which, so far, it's doing!

    BTW my other machines are a Dell 8021Dimension - pentium 4, 1.3Ghtz and a custom build 386! So rest easy Blackheath! It's all bluff!
    Oh...and then there's the Oric...nah...won't go there!
