I see you on the stats crunching with us for SZTAKI and XtremLab. Two good choices where we could use a push. I presume you're a boinc fan, so if you would like to try other boinc projects, our Team is on dozens of them.

Come by one of these days and tell us a bit about yourself. Oh... and your machine(s) too. And also, are those two your favorite projects? Have you tried others already, or just starting on the distributed computing ride?

Hey everyone, thanks for the welcome Just started on sztaki and xtremlab after a lil' break from dcing. Used to do rosetta, seti, and einstein. Yes I am a boinc fan I'll try any project that we need help on(just started on qmc today).

My main machine is a dual 940 Opteron 244 with a gig of cheapo ddr400 reg ecc. Got 2 6600's in sli for gaming. A raptor 74gb for the main drive and a nameless 160gb storage drive. Upgrading to 2gig corsair memory and 2x Opteron 265's or better sometime in the future.

My experience with computer hardware is decent I suppose. I'm completely a computer enthusiast, I spend more time tweaking and trying to make my pc run faster then I do actually using it I also have a old p4 2.8ghz/amd 2800+ barton/socket 370-slot1 lying around somewhere. I suppose I could try and get them running again if needed

The P4 would be suited to running some Math projects. eg. Seventeen or Bust, Riesel Sieve LLR'ing or Prime Sierpinski Project (PSP) PRP'ing.

The 2800 Barton is still OK for BOINC projects. Try it on Leiden Classical or Predictor.

Not sure what to recommend for the 370. Maybe MoneyBee?

For (really) old computers the best projects are those with really small workunits. Like Leiden, or HashClash, but this last one has account creation closed now.
I would also say D2OL and TSC but they've been way to unstable in the last few weeks... :?

Hmm...don't think i'm getting the 370/slot-1 working. And I might be selling/trading/the other machines to fund upgrades.But anyway...what boinc project needs help most? Or shall I stick with qmc?

Our QMC Team is in need of dedicated crunchers, so if it's ok with you... :roll:
But by all means, don't feel tied down to it. I for one can't stay on the same project for too long, it bores me. I jump around from project to project every week.
