    Lab pictures

Hey guys, these pictures were takin in my fabrication lab last Wednesday. I thought you may be interested. We got our silicon wafers and created devices on them using photolithography and diffusion. The close up pictures were taken though the microscope (hence the bad quality)

Our class website is here if you are interested as well

If you really want to know I am the guy holding the wafer at the bottom of page four.

    Cool! :D

Do you think you could get the AMD blueprints and make us a few Opterons? :P

Actually, I'm sorry to say that all of our machines and furnaces in there were given to us by Intel. It was all shipped to us from Oregon awhile ago and was used to make pentium IIs. We actually have an uncut Intel pentium II wafer. Because of this, Intel always recruits here.

Fascinating. The PowerPoint presentation was an interesting read.

So what are your plans for the future, making wafers or something else?

Well, I will be graduating in a few weeks from now on May 14 (knock on wood) and I'm currently waiting on job offers. I would really like to have a job in the semiconductor industry, but I don't know if that is what I am going to be doing right out of school. I find it really interesting as well. Actually creating my own wafer from scratch has been an amazing experience.

Thanks blackheath for the avatar, it gave me a good laugh.

I am really glad to hear you guys like it.
