    Conroe

    Anybody tried a Conroe yet?

    What to buy?

    What motherboard?

    What RAM?

I've tried one but aren't you on the wrong website asking questions like that? ;)

What do you want to know?

AMD CPUs have always been rare as hens teeth in Oz.

vaughan, I can't vouch for this source but there some spiel here to add to your R&D:

referred you this because it differs slightly from the usual response to that search (although I still loath :pukeright: CNet )

The Conroe sounds like a great CPU but I can't help but feel like going back to a FSB from AMD's HTT is a big step backwards no matter how good the CPU is.

Still... it would be a great asset to apply on maths projects for example.

I think Intels still rule when it comes to LLR'ing. Altough in sieving AMD's somehow got the advantage.

That's right NeoGen and Intel's P4s rule in SOB. Seems as if BOINC likes AMDs tho'

I wonder how the Core 2 Duo processors will behave?

I found that the Intel Core Duo T2300 in my laptop performed poorly at SOB so I abandoned that task. My Prescotts do a SOB task in about 10 days.
