Oops! be careful with the memory ordering! ...going by Walmart it has a 1GB DIMM but going by HP it comes with 2x512MB DIMMS.

If HP are right then you would have to remove both 512MBs and replace them with 2 x 1GB DIMMS.

    Best check first!

Okay,by the way.You must have read my mind. What brand ram should I get?All this ram in my eMachines is DDR 400MHz PC3200 184-pin
Tell me some good brands. Especially that be good with a dual-core system now.
Just been looking. And every site that I've went to says (512MB x 2)installed.

For the HP system (you're about to order) then the Patriot memory I linked to in an earlier thread should be fine as you're not going to be able to overclock it anyway due to HP locking the BIOS settings down.

However, if you're after some super fast clockable memory then look no further than these different manufacturers : GeIL, Corsair or OCZ - although you'll find that 2GB of the highest performing memory will probably cost more than the HP system you're about to order.

    Hold on Nflight!

The HP system will require "PC2-4200 DDR2 533MHz 240-PIN DIMM memory" so you will have to order some more if you want to up the RAM in it. Best to order the system first and check inside to see if it has 2x512MB (most probably) or just 1x1GB and then make your order for the required number of Patriot 1 GB PC2-4200 DDR2 533MHz 240-PIN DIMM memory.
