It still really doesn't overly impress me. I don't do windows, so I don't give a hoot about vista.

And there was a little line in there about the clock speed staying the same, just the internal cache changing................ well there are a bunch of projects out there where the clock speed is much more important than the size of the internal cache. Point being just cause the AM2 has a couple goodies, doesn't mean the goodies impact anything and everything. The cost is also up there. Buy a couple of the older 939 ones and their's more output from the two of them....

It's like the C2D thing. Some things it rips at, some things it isn't any better than the X2 AMD's. Neither manufacturer "qualifies" their statements about the chips. The reader is left to do the small print interpretation, and if he/she doesn't have the techie background they get possibly taken for a ride and aren't necessarily getting what they think they get. Sure, one can overclock. However that introduces issues to.

These latest additons to the AM2 are just a knee-jerk reaction to the C2D for immediate sales.... at least for what I use the chips for and staying out of the windows world.

Really now, 939's are nice but one thing that irritates me is the fact production ceased and even though there are some retailers like NewEGG telling you come and get them, they aren't there at all. You will have to upgrade, no more anywhere it is a ploy to get you in the door and on the phone so some fancy smart salesperson can ruin your plans. A knee Jerk manuever, more like a handle on the world. Some of us have had training in the world of linux, FreeBSD, Citrix, and even MAC's. I love anything that works efficiently, and accurately, with out breaking down repeatedly. Maybe that is one of the reasons I am no longer working on computers!

Challenge me, or correct me, but don't ask me to die quietly.

Well the one thing that *really* irritates me is that we still don't have 64-bit clients out there other than distributed.net and that's only for linux. Just tons of wasted computers out there..........................
