I got the best Christmas present of all. I got my eldest son (Steve Lux Jr.) back after spending about 3 hours in the Emergency room early this afternoon.

Long story short: His car hydroplaned off of the road, hit a tree and flipped end-over-end, hit a 6' concrete culvert and fell upside-down in a creek where it sank mostly under the water (with just the wheels and the bottom of the car above the surface). The roof was crushed in on the passenger side, the driver's side was blocked by an underwater tree, but the hatchback window was broken out by the subwoofer box he had in the back and he eventually swam out that window.

Fortunately my youngest son was following in his car and saw the accident. David jumped into the creek and being the kind of guys we are (too much TV?) he tried to rurn the car back over, but couldn't. So, he tore the outside sheet metal of the passenger door off (Both of my boys competed for many years in wrestling and in South Carolina state strength competitions when in High School - both are really tough) and he was starting to bend out the inner sheet metal when he saw his brother trying to get out the back of the car and went back there and pulled him out.

Aside from a few small cuts from the glass a few bruises and a dent in the noggin my eldest is fine. He was wearing his seat belt and the air bags deployed as they were designed to. It's been a scary Christmas, but the gifts this year beat anything I can ever conceive of. Nothing made in China can top this.

It just don't get better or worse than that. Nothing better than a fresh outlook something like that gives all involved. Puts wrapping paper and "things" in their place!

Wow Steve what a Christmas gift you weren't expecting. Yes I wrestled too in high school, I guess that hardening really does make an impression after all. I am glad everything worked out after that frightful experience, somebody must have been watching over your sons that day!

A got a new graphics card. I have an XP3000 32-bit setup with no PCI express slots so I had an AGP Leadtek 7600 GT card bought for me, which was a nice surprise. Runs FEAR really well.

Hey Steve. Sorry to hear about the accident but I'm glad that your son is OK. Must be good to know that they're capable of getting themselves out of challenging situations in one piece!

Hope you all enjoy the new year celebrations.

    Blime Steve! Glad he's OK.

Only PC harware I got was a Logitech V150 Laser Notebook mouse which is better than the touchpad I've been using and a nice little mouse.

Also got 2 black and 2x Colour printer carteridges, which at the prices today was most welcome!

    Holy Crap Steve,

That's a hell of a situation. It a great thing that things turned out as good as they did. Most of those type of accidents dont ever turn out so well.

You should have one big family celebration for you new years party and toast to the new year!!
