    Can I dual core?

Well I was looking at dual core 939 chips the other day and got tempted.

But I don't know if my mobo will support one.

According to CPU-Z, it's as below...
    Code:
    Mainboard and chipset
    Motherboard manufacturer	MSI
    Motherboard model	AMETHYST-M, 1.0
    BIOS vendor	Phoenix Technologies, LTD
    BIOS revision	3.20
    BIOS release date	07/08/2005
Would it run a duallie and would I need to flash the Bios?

Amethyst-M is the MS-7184 and it runs dual cores right out of the box, usually.

What I'm runnning in my 3800+ dual core 939 socket system according to MSI WMIinfo:

    Name : Base Board
    Manufacturer : MSI
    Product Name : AMETHYST-M
    Version : 1.0
    SerialNumber :

    Name : Phoenix - Award BIOS v6.00PG
    Manufacturer : Phoenix Technologies, LTD
    Version : HP-CPC - 42302e31
    SerialNumber : MXK548076X NA650
    ReleaseDate : 11 / 11 / 2005

Cheers guys! It's what I wanted to hear!

    Only troubles are now...

What happens after I stick it into my linux box? Guess I'll have to download the SMP kernel before hand?
What'll happen when I reinstall XP (if I ever do) I only have recovery CD's.

Depends on your Distro. The latest versions of a couple of distros may auto detect it and kick in the SMP kernel taking the pain out of the whole exercise.
Even if your current version does not have that ability I expect that it should still boot on one of the cores.
Nonetheless, have your recovery/Install CD ready and make sure you can boot from your CDR/DVDR drive before you start.
Then you can boot on CD, mount the HDD, copy over the Kernel an update your LILO/GRUB boot config.
That would be my plan, but then I hav not done this before.

Since you would be installing from scratch, it should see and use the second core just like Win2K would.

When you get to doing this, please come back and let us know how you prepared and what happened.
I, for one, would really like to know how this goes.
This sounds like the beginning of an interesting story.
My fingers and toes are crossed for you.

Right, I waiting for the guy who said he might have some up for sale on TPR to put them up for sale and at what prices...

Depending on the prices and what chips they are, I'll proceed with it and come back and say waht happens.
