If I have problems I like to use a livecd of ubuntu. I boot from the cd and do a memtest on the system to make sure its stable. It does let you check the system before you buy a hard drive if you dont have an extra laying around. It may be a good time to try diskless if you dont use the machine for other things.

Thank you guys. I tried reinstall XP but it stalled during the startup. I have searced for Antivirus using diskettes and the whole test went well. Have to take it to my reseller and perhaps buy a Seagate 80 GB if needed.

Poor me, it is a little chaos here now. There was nothing wrong with the Maxtor disc. Instead it was WIN XP as had flipped out and lost the control. I was thinking reinstall the OP myself but as an amateur as I’m I failed when I come to DOS. When I should write my letters was another than I thought it should be. When I should write / I got > instead and I didn’t know how I should change the PROMPT.

I ran to my reseller as reinstalled the OS and when I got it home I move the antivirus programme from Intel to AMD. Then I moved over Whatpulse and started it up. To my surprise my account was “puts väck” IE gone.

The account was on AMD and when I tried creating a new account I had forgot all data. I have done some “laboratory work” and what happen? 358,827 keystrokes and 118.226 clicks is impossible Pulse. I have destroyed all and I’m so angry on myself. I discovered too late I should be more careful.

Boinc, F@H, D20L, TKC and all what it is named gone. My favourites and so on. Damn I had not take any backup of all Boinc project but I have much of them on Intel. I bought a 1GB memory stick for copy and paste large files. I had one at 215 MB as had too little capacity.

Once I had got my Antivirus running I copy and paste the exe file of PI Segment’s and started it up on AMD so now it is running with fire on its backside. Maybe I need a fire-extinguisher?

I also bought 10 diskettes because I have make backups for my Antivirus. I had to choose among diskettes and CD/DVD rom to create a backup. I didn’t use CD/DVD for only ca 15 MB.

A trust is that I know you all have the same experience but perhaps you have been more foresighted.

    Hi Lagu,
I'm glad you have your computer working again. Everyone has experienced your problem, or something like that. And very few are prepared for it.

I'm just glad you are fine. A software problem is ok, just some mild panic for a couple of hours before you get it fixed.
