    Different die temps

A friend of mine has an X2 4400+, running *nix 2.6.20 kernel

When he poles temps from terminal lm_sensors, it reports the two die temps as being ~10 DegC different. Is this normal? What could be the reason for this?

Just for clarification, he's running it on a Asus A8N-SLI Premium board.

I just read something about the new Quad Core Opteron where its going to be doing basically the same thing... It will turn down power to the core's that don't need it to ease power consumption / heat and Vise-Versa...I don't know if that's what's happening or not but that's all I could think of...

If he has both cores on it then I see what you're saying but if he only has 1 core running BOINC that's probably it... Either way sorry I couldn't be of more help...
