The get to know you thread.

I have been on here for a while now and know very little about everyone. I say everyone that wants to, post a picture, or some other info about yourself. Just so that everyone will know a little bit more about everyone else.

For all of you who don't know me, (hard to believe anyone doesn't yet... ROFLMAO)

    I'm Chuck.
    I'm a computer engineer / Architect.
    I'm 45, ...... and 1/2 years old....
I am currently working on a special assignment near Pasadena, California, USA... Home is both southern Pennsylvania, and D/FW Texas.

I'm the geek behind the curtain in the wizard of Oz for some things
    you commonly use every day.

I've travelled the world many times over, except for getting to Oz (don't worry Vaughan, we're working on it)... I've lived in 8 countries and 14 US states now.

My passions are music, flying (I'm a pilot), and doing things that help others....

I've been dating this really great person and it might just be the magic I've missed in my first marriage (of 20years)... Time will tell.

I have two children. My daughter is 23, lives in Norfolk, Va; has her own company; and is a major in Astrophysics. I would say more about my daughter, but her PhD thesis work is in competition with folks from JPL and The Planetary Society. I can tell you she won the Science Fair at 18 and had beat out a JPL employee who had written his masters thesis on the same topic. She beat his equations by an order of magnitude.

My son is 21, lives in Columbia, MD and is currently co-op as an 'apprentice' teaching computers to the mechanics while the mechanics teach him the tricks of fixing cars. The benefit is that hopefully he will be able to design better cars in the future that are both longer lasting and easier to service.

I will be leaving Cali in a few weeks, perhaps even days..... to return to Pa for a while... then back to re-establish and reopen the house in Texas (it's been locked up a while but taken care of for me).

There is nothing you can't ask... so please don't ever hesitate..... Nothing upsets me except a dumb question (one you already know the answer for)..

My passion flows into life and as you all know...clearly into what I do and this board....

There is a great life to be lived yet... I'm only 45... My grandfather was taken from us at the early age of 93.... I have a LOT of life ahead of me still. (so better get used to it... ...grinning..)

    Did I miss anything???

Oh yeah..... Beerk and I are neighbors in Tx... LOL (is that good or bad? ROFLMAO)....

    Chuck,

I wish I had your flair for prose. I passed all my technical exams first time, but failed English 3 times, got it in the end though :?

    Come on folks, get writing.

Hmmmm...... Is that a good flair or a bad flair????? ROFL... I am used to dealing with PM's and 4-star officers who want it explained in detail....

The flp side is that I can't always turn it off.... But, in general, I am a communicator as much as a I am a down-in-the-dirt engineer (like fixing mfold tonight... I found a few of the problems with the calculations)....

So... which is it??? Good communicator or as gabby as a housewife?? What's the general opinion??? No hard feelings, but now I AM curious what folks think.

Please do, speak up... constructive criticism is how one improves. I'm a big boy and can take it... to let 'er rip.

    Chuck

    *edit*
Personal note: If there were a way to align my German education with my US education, I'ld have my Ph.D. (Piled Higher and Deeper)... but I am not going to freshman classes at this age... online or bust or another avenue.... LOL

    Chuck,

I've told you before, you carry on. You're writing brings a human touch to these boards. Most of us (me included) only write a sentence or two.

Start of second sentence............see......nothing to write ;)
