Guys, Can a OPTY 939 pin be used in a regular ddr memory 939 board?? I have a A8N sli premium mb and am looking for something a bit faster than the X2 4200 I'm using. The X2 4800 1 meg. chips are all but impossible to find at a reasonable price. Anybody know???

    Hey Blackadder,

Its should work fine, I would just check that your motherboard bios supports this cpu. Usually this is the only gotcha.

I must admit that pdf file is right on in there direction back in November 2003. BUt today is some 4 years later and most of us recognize the dilemma AMD is in right now! Nice Link Tek 182.

Thanx...I Figured if it was a 939 pin it might work, however the Asus MB specs for processors doesn't say it will work with Opty's...I'll keep on looking.

Opty's are not listed for use in my 939 pin MB, but it seems to be working better than the 3800+ I replaced with it. It crunches at about the same speed as the 3800+, so no real benefit there, but it's communications abilities far exceed what the 3800+ seemed to be able to put out. On MJ-12 I can crawl at over twice the speed as I could before.
