Jeff is experimenting on ways to get some cash flow now that the website traffic is growing.

In the past years we always had to donate for the site to keep online. I guess it would be good to have the site "financially independent".

The right side ones don't bother me, I don't look at that side much, but the ones between 1st and 2nd post on the threads are a bit more annoying. I'm considering using one of those Ad blockers. :p

Same here. Don't mind the others on the side.

I'm using FireFox + AdBlock. Blocks all the common ads.

Adblock Plus allows a bit more flexibility.

Ya, I'm using that. Forgot the Plus part.

Also using Filterset.G Updater to subscribe to a list of common ad terms and stuff.

Yeah I use Opera generally, because I prefer it to Firefox.

    BUT,

one thing you may want to look into is a Affliate links. That's how TPR is generally funded. We've got a long list of affliate links that give us money when we use them.

For example take a look ere to see what we have.

I'm sure you can get some for New Egg etc for the Amercians as well. The eBay one is great. £0.05 a bid (only counts once per cookies I think) but thats still adds up. Espcially if you bid like I do..(visit eBay, place, lose bid, go back to eBay bid again)

That sounds like a good way Drezha. The problem with page ads is that they get too distractive, to the point that they totally distract being able to read the item you were trying to read due to all the blinking/flashing/etc.

What about doing a "subscription" class of users, like several of the large boards? No ads for the subscriptors, and ads for the non-subscribers if enough money isn't pulled in from the subscriptions. Add some fluff things for subscription users. Or how about having a "patron" user level for like a $100 a year or something like that? I would support something like that. My personal feeling is that the ads just trash out a place unless they can be restricted to a specific area, but most ad companies don't go for that.

What is the target range of money you are looking at for annual operating expenses?

I put some $$ in last year, and I'm not against doing it again.

Just have a page of the links like TPR.
I then just grabbed the links and changed the ones I already had in firfox so now whenever I shop online, chances are somemoney is heading TPR's way.
