May 23, 2007 Project Status and Account Creation
How so many people have found out about Cosmology@Home this early into development is still a mystery to me, but I'm not complaining! At this point, Cosmology@Home is still in the pre-alpha stage; therefore, I have disabled account creation until I can get everything up and running. As soon as we're up, though, registration will be opened and we'll be off!
The scouts are good! No they are Great!!!
At least the admin was sensible enough to slow things down.
    One to watch.

Looks like it is Linux only for starters.

    Down in his forum
I found a message from Scott (Proj Admin) back to Saenger
I'm still trying to get the kinks worked out with this new application. Actually, nobody was supposed to see this stage of the project, but account creation was opened temporarily by accident for about a day.

It will be a little while until I've got everything working, so please be patient. I would recommend, though, that you don't attempt to perform any Cosmology@Home work until I make the announcement that we're good to go.
36 people managed to get in in the accidental 24 hour window. Heh!
Some of them have already got points. Boo!

I have asked Scott if he will let me share the access code to the rest of the AMD Users team.

Yeah I noticed that too. Its strange because I'm on the scoreboard. Maybe the team stats update less frequently.

The tasks are extremely short 8 to 13 seconds on my Core duo T2300 laptop. The downloads are small around 1.6kb but the problem is uploading. My C2D 6600 had so many trying to upload that the response time from BOINC became extremely sluggish.

Also be advised you need to be running BOINC v5.8.x or above. I tried 5.4.9 with Cruncher's optimisation (so its really 5.5.0) on my XP3200+ and all the tasks gave computation errors.

    Invitation Code

    Vaughan-
You may share it privately with people on your team, as long as it's not hundreds of
    people.

    Thanks Scott.

Can I share this information with my team? How many?

    Cheers,
    Vaughan

    UPDATE:
    June 8, 2007 Project Down
The project will be down for a while until we can make the necessary upgrades to our server and application. We will not be creating any more WUs until the test next week.

June 8, 2007 No More Invitations for Now
Thanks to everybody for such a tremendous showing of support for testing Cosmology@Home. I've had more than enough requests to help with testing at this point, so for now, registration is closed again.
br/> Thanks again for all of those who volunteered to help test our project!
