    welcome to AMD users Stewart
    from what i have read 5000+be is a very good over clocker i hope you get your issues with mobo sorted, i am wondering what bios version you have ?

    Welcome Steward! I have the 5000+ BE in one machine as well, hope you will be able to get a good clock with the new mobo, let us know how it goes!

    That was the original reason why I chose that one, because of it's overclocking potential. I'm using the latest BIOS, F5.

    It does just about work, at least enough to do the things I need with it for uni, but it is annoying not being able to use the full potential of the cpu. As for the upgrade I'm undecided if I should replace it sooner, with another AM2+, or wait until AM3 comes along. (That would mean CPU upgrade as well, but as mentioned I'll setup the 5000 as a dedicated cruncher.)
    Any suggestions?

    Hi all. I'm new to the BOINC system. I just learned about it today in school. Its seems like a great way to use your idling PC. Also, I'm doing the climate prediction project.
    My Specs are: AMD Athlon X2 6000+ @ 3.0GHz, Asus Loin Square heatsink, Biostar T8200 AM2/AM2+, CORSAIR XMS2 DHX 4GB @ 800MHZ with 4-4-4-10 Timings, Seagate 7200RPM SATA 640GB HD, Western Digital 7200RPM 160Gb SATA, Samsung 7200RPM 40GB SATA, RAIDMAX 730W PSU, PNY GeForce 8800 GT 512MB @ 600MHz/1500MHz/800MHz, Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit/gOS 3.0 Gadgets 32bit linux

    Indeed, the boinc (and non-boinc projects) are great ways of using those spare cycles.
    Of course, many of us have a habbit of "making" spare cycles for these projects
