Hi all. I'm new to the BOINC system. I just learned about it today in school. Its seems like a great way to use your idling PC. Also, I'm doing the climate prediction project.
My Specs are: AMD Athlon X2 6000+ @ 3.0GHz, Asus Loin Square heatsink, Biostar T8200 AM2/AM2+, CORSAIR XMS2 DHX 4GB @ 800MHZ with 4-4-4-10 Timings, Seagate 7200RPM SATA 640GB HD, Western Digital 7200RPM 160Gb SATA, Samsung 7200RPM 40GB SATA, RAIDMAX 730W PSU, PNY GeForce 8800 GT 512MB @ 600MHz/1500MHz/800MHz, Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit/gOS 3.0 Gadgets 32bit linux

Indeed, the boinc (and non-boinc projects) are great ways of using those spare cycles.
Of course, many of us have a habbit of "making" spare cycles for these projects

Thanks guys. I actully came across it on my text today when I was reading the chapter and doing the questions for it. I still need to finish it, as i just got back from work. Thanks guys for the warm welcome... I can't wait to see how many cycles my pc will do with the new 45nm quad core that i will get for christmas,
