Going through a few drawers today cleaning things out and voila! Lo and behold I find an unwrapped new T-shirt for "PC Board Worldwide." Got me to reminiscing about my BBS days. Also used Wildcat. Then that started me thinking about the old WWIV, and a host of others. So anyway washed the PCBoard shirt and popped that baby on and then headed for the mall do do a few laps. I was amazed by the number of old boys that commented on PCBoard and their earlier computing days.

Soooooooooooooooooo as that old cigarette ad for the women sorta said,

we've come a long way baby!

Yes I too have those memorable layers of memorabilia that are stored now in tubs in my basement. They exude my past childhood fascination with wearing something that tells about my participation in some work, play, or other stuff. Unfortunately only a few actually know what MUDing was and when I recourse the subject with the youth of today they look at me with jaws open and eyes confused. They actually did that back then,? yes I reply, and quickly the focus of the conversation moves from my focal point to somewhere else as to whittle me down in embarrassment or that I am diseased to have participated in something so archaic.

Today the only viable T-Shirt I still wear shows a NT 3.51 BSOD, but not in Navy Blue ink but, rather a dismal Black and faded with one more washing will become see-thru appearance. Most of the younger crowd have to stare relentlessly at the T-Shirt to acknowledge they have never seen NT 3.51 BSOD before. Most just have that familiar look on there face, like what is it, and where do I get one?

Digital equipment corporation gave me a T-Shirt a long time ago when they pushed out an updated DEC-8 to the crowd of users I was dealing with as a technician. It is no longer in my possession as I used it to paint a house exterior in a windy place, and during the project I wore more paint then the house at times. That would have been an unimaginable T-Shirt to have in this day and age, what it displayed was the inner workings and setup of the ferrite cores aligned in the newly developed machine they were attempting to get more buyers for.

The history is truly what makes the future look so exciting!
