    Cullen Prime Search

PrimeGrid recently found a record Woodall prime (n*2^n-1). See here for more information on the record: http://www.primegrid.com/ While it continues to search for larger Woodall's, PG is now starting the Cullen Prime Search (n*2^n+1). Cullen's are more rare than Woodall's.

We are looking to catch the Cullen's up to the Woodall's. To do so, if you are already a PG user, please consider switching your project preferences to only Cullen's for the next two weekends.

To access your project preferences, please visit: http://www.primegrid.com/prefs.php?subset=project and set only the Cullen Prime Search to yes.

Once again, it's only for the next two weekends. Of course, if you feel inclined, it's perfectly OK to crunch the Cullen Prime Search full time until they are caught up with the Woodall's.

Thank you for your consideration and good luck finding the record Cullen prime.

I got all options set on Primegrid, but only crunch on it every once in a while. I get mostly primegen and Woodall workunits.

I ran some Cullen tasks today but they are all waiting to be validated. Is there a problem with the PG validator?

Rytis has been working with the validator...but as far as I know it's running. The Cullen and Woodall WU's have a minimum quorum of 2. Maybe your WU's are waiting for the other result to be returned?

Also note, Cullen's and Woodall's increase in n (n*2^n+1, n*2^n-1) so each new test will take longer than the previous. Cullen's at n=500K take about 10-15 minutes to complete; Woodall's at n=2.5M take about 2.5-4 hours to complete...the time ranges depend on the speed of your computer.

BTW, thanks everyone for helping out. Your support is greatly appreciated! We found the record Woodall within a month of starting the search...hopefully, we can find a record Cullen in the same time frame!

p.s. ignore the status of the validator on the server status page...it's still being run in PerlBOINC.

As of this post, Cullen Prime Search is at n=1000000 with WU's taking around 50 minutes to complete. When n>1354828, any new prime found will be a record. Good Luck!
