    weird fan problems

Hello, recently ive been getting weird fan problems "i think" it all starts about 5 mins after ive loaded windows, the fan starts screeching on ( i think its the fan, ive tryed the ram, video card, and the spare fans at the back of the case, they dont seem to be making the noise), anyway thats not the weird thing, it might just be the bearings. but when ever i do something on my computer like open a new page, or even scroll up and down a page the screeching gets worse the instant i do it, then quieten downs when i stop (but dosent stop screeching completely). ive talked to my friend and he says he has never heard of a CPU screeching. any suggestions or is it definatly my fan?

    Thanks

*edit* I forgot to say that i think its the CPU fan, its the only one i dont know how to take off and test because of the whole CPU burnout thing and all

P.S. i hope this is the right place to post this.

That is Weird, the Power Supply Fan Could be going bad, if you've checked all the other Fans then it almost has to be that I would think ...

The pitch of the screeching on the ps fan may change during computer operations (any fan would do this). It would really show up when the bearings go bad.

hmm...is there anyway to test the power supply fan? like unplugging it from the mother board? or would that just short circuit the ps? thanks.

*edit* i forgot to say i think its the CPU fan (dont know how i forgot to mention that O.o)

if you have ruled out all other fans (execpt the ps fan). Find a friend with a complete spare ps and swap that out. If it's not the ps fan....

Buy a new cpu fan. If it's a stock cooler, you can get thermotake fans at Radio Shack now...kinda inexpensive..

I had a northbridge cooler fan on a Gigabyte motherboard that made weird noises as the fan would stop and start every now and then. It was a tiny little fan, only 30 or 40mm. I cured it by removing the fan and the m/b kept working fine for years.

im guessing power supply's are universal? so any spare PS i have lieing around will fit in the box i have right now?
    Thanks

MOST new computers will use similar ps. You have to check the watts against your existing ps (a lower watt output may not work). And the the motherboard connector cables.....

Bearing screeching; Try this on for giggles, touch your finger to the area where the screeching is coming from, the screeching is the rubbing of two metal objects and in doing this rubbing a vibration is felt in all instances. You may get your finger quite dirty, unless you blow your system out regularly. If at first you can't find the problem use the rule of hard knocks to solve the problem, touch it! Touch the area around the edges of the fan you believe causing the errors, not the blades themselves.

If all else fails toss the system out the window and check to see if the screeching stops ~ ! j/k
